Explosion

Something that blows up in a huge firey hell! Usually due to ill placed explosives or general "accidents"

Licensed Soundtrack

Many games incorporate licensed music from popular bands for the soundtrack.

Crosshair

A sight placed on the HUD used to aim and provide a point of reference to the player when looking and interacting with the game world. Although they often aim weapons, they have a variety of uses and have appeared in many games in many different forms.

Evil Organization

An evil organization is a group of super-villans who are hell bent on world domination or something of a similar nature. Usually defeated by a single Spy/Superhero/Average Joe/small child.

Tie-In

Sometimes companies decide name recognition is vital to a game's success. Sometimes this decision leads to disaster, but can sometimes add to the immersion. Examples of well-done tie-ins include GoldenEye and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.

Movie Tie-in

Whenever there's a new Pixar, superhero or Harry Potter movie they have to make one of these.

Non-Player Character

Characters controlled by the game for players to interact with, as opposed to player characters, the characters controlled by whomever is playing the game.

Spies

Spies are the masters of espionage. They're also (usually) quite addept at the art of stealth, disguise, and assassination.

Platinum Games

While some games can sell hundreds of thousands of units, not all are recognized as being Platinum Games immediately. Sometimes it can take a while for these games to be re-released at a cheaper price, as demonstrated by both Sony and Microsoft, but when they are they become part of the Platinum range on that platform.

Murder

Oops, I think I killed someone.

Reloading

Reloading is the action of replacing the magazine inside a gun. Without reloading, modern shooters would be impossible.

Rapid-fire

Being able to fire bullets in quick succession. In early video games, often acquired as a power-up.
