1 vs. 100 Free For All This Weekend

Here's a quick bit of information for you Xbox Live Silver members out there. Microsoft has decided to open up the beta of its recurring, sometimes-live online game show, 1 vs. 100, to Xbox Live silver members between Friday and Sunday. Hey, that's today!

I'd say it's absolutely worth taking a look at if you haven't seen it before. It's been surprisingly fun. Hey, do you think this is designed to stress test the servers Microsoft is running for the game, or do you think it's designed to entice the free crowd into dropping some cash on a gold-level account? It's probably both, I'd guess. But if the thought of playing online games hasn't sold you on a paid account yet, I can't imagine this game show will seal the deal.

This will be sweet, but I wonder how many SIlver members there actually are to make this a viable stress test

Still waiting for 1 vs. 100 to come out in places that aren't called the United States of America or Canada. Looks like I'll be waiting until my hair's grey for that to come true.

Freaking awesome, too bad my 360 is in repairland. Hopefully they don't ditch 1v100 by the time I get it back. Need those winning points for getting all kinds of XBL stuff :)

I don't like the sound of 'stress test'. Imagine the servers bombing out when you were about to win a ton of points or something.

40 minutes until Silver members can take place in it, thank god I have a US silver account.

Looks like the next one is in 7 hours, so looking forward to it :)

That's why this is still a beta, and that's what a stress test is for... for ironing out the server issues that arise from more people playing than they anticipated.

i think its not so much that people who don't have gold don't want to play online, i think its simply they cant afford it with the downturn and this free beta would be a good way of convincing people that this is somthing you want to spend your money on.

I know there are a bunch of silver members, but I highly doubt that too many of them really care. Maybe if a gold member invited them to a "Hey! I can't normally play games with you!" game session.

so in theory my Xbox Live Silver Account will work now, I'm in the UK though wonder if I can join in not sure if my account is Canadian or American, will it matter? How long till the first live show?

It's really quite addictive and alot of fun. Hope you silverers enjoy it half as much as my wife and I have. :)

I need to check this out...it has been available to me for awhile but I just haven't had any motivation to do so. It sounds sweet, I will look at it this weekend.

I have no guilt in saying that I LOVE 1 Vs. 100. I play it all the time now and it's great! If you have a Gold account there is no reason why you shouldn't check it out, and now the Silvers have a chance to get in on all the fun. Once they start offering real prizes I'm sure that it'll take off.

but seriously this is pretty awesome the game is great fun sometimes I go in there "just to check it out for 15 minutes" and end up playing for the 2 hours, crazy I know

@Jeff: I personally think the point of this is to try to attract silver members to get gold memberships. They have done similar things like this in the passed. For example, I remember when the Xbox 360 launched they were always having weekends that all silver members could try out gold features. Maybe in was just specific days and not weekends, I can't remember.

Its a beta there are no prises/points thats the whole point fix those issues now before there are real prizes

Well, the game is designed to make microsoft money, so the point of all this really is to make microsoft more money, be it through gold memberships or more people getting into 1vs100.

I have been playing it with my sister 3 or 4 nights a week for the last few weeks, its pretty damn fun, I like the mix of trivia. And the actual live events are pretty interesting too. I'll probably play the game once it goes gold to try and win some prizes :) Of course that depends on if its Pay 2 play, or still ad supported. hopefully the latter.
