In the second installment of our regular video series, How To Build A Bomb, we meet up with Ryan Davis and a get a tour of our barren office space. It should be noted that this was shot before Monday’s equipment run. So we do have TVs now. In fact, I have Smash Bros. paused right next to me as I type this. So… yeah.

Video is not showing up for me yet… plus it’s pretty left-aligned
I’m sure you’ll get her up and running in a minute.
Looks pretty awesome.
Nice, one with Ryan Davis.
Sure your working on it but the vid is not showing up and all text is left aligned.
Cant wait to see episode 2.
Sweet, looks great guys. Cant wait till the summer
I have to figure out some way to bypass the network restrictions to watch these vids during my lunch hour. ESPN and other crap like that works fine for the execs. This should work for me.
You have to call the office the Bomb Lab.
You should probably add an alarm system to that list. People are horrible. Looks like a great building to work out of though!
Looking Good. Keep up the progress.
This is exciting.
LOUNGER.
Sweet ass office! You guys are really putting everything you’ve got into this website, Good Job!!
That was a pretty cool video. I cannot wait for your site to take off and Ryan, I have the same shoes as you.
Guys this looks awesome. I can not wait for the official debut.
And be sure not to go out of buisness for the next two years. I’m near the end of my Junior Year and a few months ago I wanted to go to college in San Francisco and then intern at THAT SITE, Greg Kasavin style. But I much rather try it out at a more honest place such as this one rather than a very corporate website.
Keep on rocking on!
That’s super nice!!!!!
Nice, that looks like a cozy little office. Cant wait to see it fill up with gadgets and tech.
Love the the ideas for the office! Should be pretty cool, can’t wait to hear the first completed podcast from there!
So… on the podcast… you guys need an audio tech? Ha ha!
It’s awesome to see that you guys are setting up to get things ready to go. Try not to spend all your money on Gatorade.
or Red Bull.
Just do it guys
Exciting to see it all coming together, keep at it!
Cannot wait for the next episode, see how everything is set out.
Oh and as somebody above mentioned you’re gonna need a security system. This is a nice advertisement for some free TV’s and stuff.
Keep up the greatw ork guys. I’m retty much gonna follow this site no matter what happens along the way. You have my full support.
Great Guys!!! I can’t wait to see the video of you guys running around spending thousands of dollars of equipment. I think it should be sped up really fast and put “flight of the bumble bee” behind for comedic effect. LAFF
You know they mean business because Ryan’s rocking the Lemmy beard!
you guys are the best! I love the vid series. Only bad part is now I have to wait a week for more.
Godspeed!
What are you guys going to do about the sound of traffic in your office. Also do you keep the offices locked regardless of whether anyone is there. I guess if Jeff Gerstmann was watching Fast and Furious that would make sense.
great work guys, can’t wait for the next installment
I am so excited!
lol make sure to get a security system
How the hell are you guys paying for this?
For the podcast u sould get a Shotgun Mic.
The place is lookin good! and good luck on everything looking forward to seeing u guys
Keep the dream alive, brutha.
What are you guys, millionaires? That shit’s the bomb!
You can use the giant stairs to pretend that you are very small !!! Wow thats a neat idea for a future video !!
Woot nice office.Bang This site is going to rock!
Nice, looking forward to the video with the “goods” in it.
And by goods I mean G2/GT plus some electronics, or whatever.
Every stuff beginns small
so keep up the progress.
Cool cool cool !
Pretty swinging office there Ryan and Jeff!!
I wish you guys the best even though you’ll be fine.
Looking great dudes. You should get a cougar or lion to guard your door.
Regarding fine art for the walls. A “Cobra” movie poster should be the number one purchase, followed by a “Tokyo Drift” one.
I assume the Mortal Kombat and SFII Turbo cabinets are being delivered soon.
Guys, I’m sure they had some savings or got a small business loan.
Either way, it is all tax deductible
Good stuff guys, I like the videos of everything gradually coming together. It looks like a great office space, and I’m sure it won’t be too long at all before it all falls into place and great things start getting produced from there. Hell, it’s already happening, huh?
I’m seriously excited for you guys. Wish I was just around the corner to give you guys a hand
Well, looks you guys are on the right track. Things are coming together nicely. 1 question: Is the podcast going to have a specific date or is it going to be like til now??? keep up the great work guys..
P.S.: Oh and could you tell us a litle bit more on who are the people you’re working with? Who is holding the camera?? Who is going to be part of the Giant Bomb (dot com)?..maybe you could answer this question in your next podcast…
my god that looks like soo much fun I’d kill to work at giant bomb
Rockin’ pad!
Who’s holing the camera?
PS If you dudes wanna have like a paid “Giant Bomb INSIDER” kinda thing I would TOTALLY support your site. Same with t-shirts/merchandise.
I also have a podcast :] Check it out
http://houseofwolves.podbean.com/
Who’s Mike Tatum? Maybe we will get to meet other people at giantbomb in the next episodes.
My God, I cannot wait to see the next video where you show off all your new crap. That’s going to be awesome. I’m glad to see that you guys are taking this seriously and keeping everything professional. I’m sure it must have been tempting to save your money, not get an office and just work from home using your own equipment. Kudos, my friends. Kudos.
p.s. does anyone else remember the delicious Kudos Cookies and Cream granola/candy bars they had in the 90’s? Wow, those were good… and I miss them.
This is all pretty darn sweet. Shame that the office isn’t on ground level which means no windows, but that might not bother you.
Like I’ve said countless times - I can’t wait.
The question is: Who’s holding the camera?
Awesome, I hope the next video is of you guys shopping. You guys rock.
Nice work guys….keep cranking out vids so we can see the process
Awesome video, hopefully the next installment will be sooner then next week. This episode was great, but not fufilling. I want to see you putting up some tv’s and shit! Also, you should probably go to a design agency and get the giant bomb logo plastered on your wall, so you feel official.
Who’s behind the camera?
This looks like it’s gonna be great! This is probably gonna be one of my favorite sites, actually it already is..
Sausalito, CA?
This is very exciting. You guys already have a huge fan base, keep as far away from huge commercial gaming sites as possible (no names necessary) and this is going to work.
Good luck guys.
Awesome! I really need to move out to Cali where all the gaming shiat is going down!
Loving the videos/podcasts, office looks really cool. also wondering since you guys are kicking up this summer- are you doing any internship-type stuff?
Man all that stuff you guys need must cost a lot! Good video guys can’t wait to see how the site evolves in the next few months!
I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes–but once you have more than two employees, you’ll probably need more than that one room. Getting a TV, a couch, a bunch of desks, and multiple cases of Gatorade will take up a lot of space.
Good plan, looks like its gonna be sweet!
Awesome
The people are hyped. I am also equally if not more hyped. Can’t wait. Keep the videos coming.
Hey- Y’know what this reminds me of?
That video series they did showing how to start developing a game. I can’t remember what it was called, but the game was called Black Powder Red Earth. It was pretty cool, so is this.
It must be great to be able to choose every piece of furniture and electronics at your own office. Something that I probably never will be able to do.
You guys got a sweet ass office man.
Are you sure it was the original Fast and the Furious, I was watching it on USA too but it was 2 Fast 2 Furious…
Am i the only one who was hoping the door didn’t open right at the beginning? Now that would’ve been funny.
DAYAM! can i move in with you guys?
On the whiteboard it says:
Fanxl Desk x1
Tv x2
Big Tv x1
Tv Stand
Cancorder x3
?? Carts x2
Couch x1
Coffee Table x1
51 x1
Chairs x2
That facial hair was amazing. I almost did something like that once but but I felt it was a little to eccentric for my town.
Sweet. The office looks nice. Where is the fridge going?
Man yopu guys got to loose some weight
The office looks nice and cosy, and the abstract ’stairs to nowhere’ would probably play mind games on me on a daily basis.
Good luck you guys!
Also, that place looks pretty nice, although it might get crowded quickly.
Nice looking offices!
Looked like a small stairway to heaven in your office.
Nice work! I can’t wait ’til Giant Bomb is running at full speed. More podcasts and longer videos, RAWR
I have to say, I’m a fan guys; so far so awesome!
I’m blatently plugging you on both my blog and my website; don’t fail my word-of-mouth shenanigans!
Is Alex holding the camera? Haven’t seen him in the series yet.
whens the next pod gonna be?
Looks sick so far gentlemen.
sweet place guys make another vid when you put all the stuff in place.
In that giant area with the track lighting you guys should get a large sign of the Giantbomb logo, but it should be a mural made up of a bunch of other smaller pictures that are fan submitted (like all of the old Truman Show posters, does anyone remember what I’m talking about). It would be like a giant reminder of all of the people that really think what you guys are doing is awesome everytime you walk into the office.
Hey guys, there is a Facebook group for us to chat about the development of this site & etc. Just search for Giant Bomb in the groups search.
It’s really great getting to see inside the process of how you guys are building your site. Your enthusiasm is contagious and it really makes me excited to see what great things are in store for your site. I’m really looking forward to the future of Giant Bomb!
looking good fellas, can’t wait to see the whole place decked out with hdtv’s, games, mics, camera, comfortable sofas, gatorade, and you guys just talkin about games and other shit….this site is gonna be rad.
Looks awesome, I’m really excited to see how this will turn up. Keep these videos coming!
History in the making…
Guys, I have to ask you… how is it that some people have an avatar with their comments? Do you register somewhere?
Coyote go to gravatar.com
Why do you guys actually need an office? As far as I can tell, you can do a website just fine from your own homes and you all live fairly close together. Oh well, it’s your money
nice office
Man that office Rules! so cosy. this bomb need to blow up!
I’m sure many people told you guys many times that you were wasting your life just playing and writting about video games, yet after that video I seriously feel like I’m wasting my life doing my mechanical/chemical engineering job and not doing something that I know I would absolutly love.
Sigh, too bad I don’t have the backround or money to start something like that up.
You should change the name of the podcast to The Bombcast.
Thats pretty awesome, Big TV x1… Nice studio though, love the “stairs” thing.
I’m saying it… Fly that flag guys!
good to see you guys sticking together. A big hello from the UK PS3 forums. All the best with all our support
that place is sick!
I think its alex behind the camera
Nice! this is really turning into something. I’ll keep watching
We’re waiting for the podcast Jeff.
Great work, guys! These videos on building your office are great, and I can’t wait to see the next one. You should do longer videos, though, showing all the stuff you bought, the finished setup of the office (when done) and like the three of you guys just sitting, talking about stuff or whatever. And I’m hoping with time you do hour long or longer, video shows like you used to do. That’d be awesome. You could even do video podcasts as well as audio only, so we can see you, and your guests. (You should have Rich Gallup come down, or have him via Xbox Live) I think it would be pretty sweet to watch a video of a typical day at Giant Bomb offices. I’m sure you get my drift.
Awesome, cant wait for this!
Niceeee ! Waiting for more….
Man, I am so excited! Can’t wait for the next posts and future episodes.
Keep it up guys, looking forward to your site!
Nice lookin space you guys got, I can just picture the Giant Bomb banner hanging in the back wall there.
Can’t wait to see everything all set up!
Awsome!!!
Keep up the great work Ryan & Jeff, I am digging the new site, and the podcast rocks!! You guys were greatly missed in my daily Video Game reading!!!
great watching everyday, cant wait to see what you guys are gona do, it was great to see you together again doing what you should looking forward to the year ahead
from a keen english suporter of your work all the best for the future
and hope this show keeps goin oh and i love the vids there the most intersting things rather than reading about games its great to see them being played and comented on. looking forward to the reviews oh and try to do some pc games
as im a pc gamer
but still find the other consoles intersting and play them now and then
ya ha
hey im spammin
God, something about your guy’s figures makes you guys kinda like the Chris Farley doubles, only greater because its x2. Keep up the good work, you guys only spent several thousand dollars on equipment yesterday … Damn.. thats alot. I want to be able to do that lol.
il stop now…
Fucking Rights they got Alex
This is going to be sweet.
I’m so hyped for this site.
You guys are gonna do awesome.
How many hits do you have so far?
Big respect to what you guys are doing. Ill be coming by Giantbomb for my gaming news from here on out. I love games, and i like to know all about them, i like your style… and i wish you all the success in the world. I hope you can give the middle finger with style… I will add i just dont go there for my gaming news… cant rememebr the name of it even…game.. gaame.. naa cant get it. wierd, but yeah its odd, i just dont go there anymore, its lost something vital.. it cant be the loss of you lot can it?! surely not?! well it may well be the loss of key figures that people emoted and enjoy listening to…. so hurry up and get it gawn.
I wanna see the setup and i wanna see you playing games….
peace
So awesome, can’t wait to see more. The big question has to be: who’s behind the camera? I can’t imagine it’s Alex because I can’t imagine him staying quiet for so long. So who is it?
Wow, that office is really nice. Now I wish my room was WAY bigger, because it’s about the size of a closet. I can’t wait to see the finished office.
Looking good guys. Return of lemmy beard is welcome…naturally. ;P
That MUST have been Alex with the camera though….heh
You guys should rename the podcast to BombCast!
Or not, it’s your show so you can call it whatever ya want.
I never being more excited about seeing an empty room, that could of being half an hour of Jeff and Ryan just hanging out in an empty room and i would still of watched it and loved it. Cant wait for this bomb to go off!
Awesome…!
That office space is much more impressive than i thought it would be
Nice, can’t wait to see it fully furbished!
But WHY?! Why stop to go shopping. Let the camera run and go shopping. I want more than 5 minutes! I want the camera to be running for a whole day. I want an 8 hour “Setting up office” marathon with shaky handcam including meal breakes and random trashtalk. Nah but seriously. These episodes could easily be waaay longer, and way more frequent. I could watch stuff like this all day.
Alright, I´m coming of sounding rude and greedy but thats how excited I get watching this.
And on a sidenote. If it was indeed 2 Fast 2 Furious on the TV as someone said earlier in the comments and if Jeff couldnt tell the 2 apart I am greatly dissappointed with his Paul Walker knowledge. You have to be able to distinguish a Fast and Furious Paul Walker from a 2 Fast Paul Walker. The first movie might be one of the greatest movies ever. Never mistake it for the sequel. Ever!
I have to agree with some of the other folks here that an alarm should be high up on your list. I’d get some surveillance cameras also.
Looks nice guys.
Keep it up and i am sure it will become something nice
hahahaha @ th fold up table with a beanbag
How exciting this is. Been a witness of a Giant creation.
Only 5.1, thought you’d get 7.1 - you could get headphones for the smaller tvs also, in case the big tv is in use and too loud.
Nice guitar.
LOL @ the paul walker skit!
Looks like things are coming along nicely. A big thanks for sharing the build with us, something im sure most of us would love to be doing and won’t ever get/take the chance to do, so its nice to get to experience it vicariously at least. also, Ive gotta add… ryan, you are rockin that ’stache!
Great video guys. I was sad to see it end so soon though. What I would give to be able to leave my souless cubical job and do what you guys are doing. I’m just short the time, money, and notoriety that you guys seem to have. Oh well, I guess I still have Giant Bomb (dot com).
You guys are living the dream.
I really like these videos. They give a really cool insight into what you guys are up to.
Looks like everything is going well and according to plan. Its going to be pretty neat when you have everything up and running and splash out content after content.
Great to see you guys getting the ball rolling so quickly. Thanks for letting us all in on the ground floor and watch as the next great gaming site gets ready to launch.
Dang..I was expecting a video of you guys setting up after you got all that loot in the picture you posted before.
Itunes podcast?
This has the same feel as Black Powder, Red Earth. I’m really looking forward to seeing what this site becomes, and I hope it does well.
Wow! Things are looking up! Can’t wait to see what you guys are up to in the coming months!
Dude, we’re so in.
I want to see you guys buy stuff. Consumerism (not commercialism) is at the heart of all your podcasts and articles so I’d actually like to see purchases taking place.
wow
This is going to be an awesome website. I can’t wait until the summer!
Oh man. This is going to be a GIANT bomb.
Q: Who’s BEHIND THE CAMERA?!
It looks like you guys only need a couple more weeks and your good to go
Its great to here your setting up a studio too… Ill be looking forward to a regular show. What are you going to call the show? Youll obviously have to throw the naming open to the fans. My suggestion is “Live%Bomb!”
Im heavily down with the ‘building a Bomb’ segment. I seem to be checking up proceedings daily now.
Viva la Giant-Bomb
NIce job, I can’t wait till this site luanches
I give Jeff’s handwriting a 4 out of 10. We are the delinquent generation, playing video games all day and writing like we’re lacking a gift of evolution, the opposable thumb.
I like the surreal drug commercial running in the background as they’re talking about chairs and mics.
Oh man, keep these updates going. This is exciting stuff.
Great show, keep em coming!
But one thought…make em longer!!!
(thats what she said)
Seems great so far. Going to be so awesome when you have everything set up. All the best.
Who is holding the camera?! is it Alex? I know he say he would help out but wasn’t going to do it full time. Could it be another former Gamespot editor?
Looking fantastic. Can’t wait till you guys have everything up and running 100%!!
you guys gonna have a set day for the podcast?
Looks like everything is starting to come together. Nice. Can’t wait for the next update and the new website.!
BOOM!
That’s a pretty neat place. Lots of weird design choice keep it fresh. Can’t wait for episode 3 when it’s populated!
who is controlling the camera? also a good video XD cant wait for the website to be up and running
Awesome, can’t wait for more. Its like Reality TV, but not, thats crazy!
So far so good guys also you should post more reviews and videos. Thanks though hope everything runs smoothly
