I was going to fire up my 360 and give it a go…but…live stream sounds intriguing. Plus, I need some entertainment to go with my late night tacos. Have at it, homes.

I’m having a problem viewing the video, keeps freezing every couple of seconds, also can’t join chat, just says connecting for 10 tries, then says Sorry
at the end. WTF! Oh well.
im also back from best buy, and ive been playing it for the past 2 hours. it is pretty awesome so far…obviously.
Had to wait 45 minutes in the line for pre-orders and now waiting for the install. So FN close.
The stream keeps freezing after 2-3 sec of playing, you guys should use ustream.

the other GTA games sucked, only after the hype goes down will people find all the bugs and how jacked it is like the other GTA games.

Hey Ryan and Jeff,
I would like to watch your live GTA IV marathon, but Justin.tv does not seem to want me to.
Every time I click on the link, in any of the four major Web browsers, the video plays for a few secods, and then freezes, leaving me with only audio. Refreshing the page gives me a few more seconds of video, and then it freezes again.
My computer and Internet connection are normally capable of handling streaming live video of Justin.tv’s quality. I have to assume that the problem is Justin.tv.
Is it over did it start yet…
All I’m seeing is a still picture of like a blue dumpster and some dude talking about stabing dudes in the face. I wanna see the stabbing! Show us the face stabbing, jeff! XD
I am watching it but I think its too HQ or soemthing, its very sluggishly coming on my 256k net

Hmm, video freezes all the time, sound in fine.
Sound is great and the sync with chat is awesome, as soon as the question about lock on targets popped up in chat jeff could answer it. The video gets fine after pausing and unpausing over and over again for a while.
It was easier when I had only one console. Now I have to decide between 360 or ps3…
I must sound like a spoilt prat.

Just caught the tail end of the stream. Good idea and GTA looks to be the bomb - pun intended.
Being on the East Coast made it impossible to watch but I’m sure it was fun. Waiting for the Mail guy to deliver mine…(order from Amazon…NOT GAMESTOP - stop their madness). Hope you guys do more of these marathons in the future.

Hey guys missed the live stream but i watched the video many hours later. Just wondering why you only got the 360 version? I would have thought you’d both be interested in comparing the two. Ive heard the PS3 version is slightloy better in the graphics dept. Draw distance and texture pop are apparently not as much of an issue. I am planning on getting the PS3 version because of this and because i dont want to be playing a marathon session and have my 360 die (i got it back from repairs recently). So can you guys post some impression regarding each version of the game? cheers.
I popped into the chatroom, shortly after three this morning. That aspect of things seemed to work flawlessly. I came back a short while later, when your broadcast was live and while the audio was streaming without a hitch, the video was frozen.
I know that others have mentioned similar problems but you can never have too much feedback, right?

The last news says the ps3 version is only running at 630p, but i think that it’s still better than the 360 version, the ps3 also has high quality audio, less pop in, no screen tearing and faster loading times.
So, Jeff, what do you think of Gamespot’s kowtowing? 9.5 to a 10? Interesting turn of events, don’t you think?

I’m gonna assume they went with 360 because there’s no install and they wanted to play IMMEDIATELY. I ill also assume they purchased ps3 versions for comparison’s sake. One of the perks of running GIANTBOMB.COM, I presume, is that games are significantly less expensive when they can be written off as business expenses.

Just done a brief intro to GTA IV. First moment where you think ‘well that’s just awesome’ was a bit random for me - walking down the street and an older bloke wanders in front of me holding a cup of coffee. He suddenly stops dead at the curb, and I bump into him because of that. He drops his cup of coffee and looks over his sholder to complain. Mint!
I’m trying not to mess up threads but I’d like to say well done to you for setting up the site. You know, sticking it to The Man, and generally taking it back to The Streets and all.
It’s a brave move, but I’m sure it’s rewarding.
I’d been dropping in to the gamespot site for a long while, but had only recently picked up on the On The Spot thing. If Ryan McD brought the passion, you sirs brought the mirth.
I think this is without a doubt my favourite video game blog that’s not actually about video games. All the better for it.

I just had my own 8 and a half hour marathon of GTA IV myself.
So, Guys, whats the general consensus on GTAIV?
Im a few hours in, but with the massive improvments to combat, navagaton, and mission design/completion, on top of the game being ABSURDLY well written and acted, it seems RADICAL.

Like this game is so good, but I really wish RockStar had made it more open ended like the previous ones.
Great coverage of the game guys kept me entertained while i was waiting for my copy to be posted threw the door, I have the PS3 version and i’m loving every minute of it so far, only downside is the online seems to be down, not sure if this is for everyone, I’m in the UK.
DAm i love the game it’s way fun. nothing can top it at least list year.

I got my 360 elite + GTA Special Edition from amazon today. Played all day, it’s awesome! Way better than SA, which was weak for my taste. Territory control and hiphop suck

Working for Tesoc I left my copy behind a counter a earlier on 28th. Lucky because at 00:01 there were 100 people queing at the store, I casually strolled in bought some cookies and got a manager to sell me my copy on the DL.
Yeah Online down on my PS3 in the UK too, but im enjoying the story. Stuck on The Snow Storm atm, dont worry im not gonna spoil it for anyone.
