Fight Night Round 4: Crazy Rapin’ Edition

We found this WORLD EXCLUSIVE footage of Fight Night Round 4’s all-new Classic Interview mode… OK, whatever, I can’t keep up the lame joke. This amazing Mike Tyson footage speaks for itself. But keep in mind that it frequently speaks in shocking slurs and filthy curses before you hit play on it.

So, given that this is how most people see Mike Tyson now, don’t you think EA’s press release, which opens with…

The Champ Is Back! EA Announces EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4
Mike Tyson Featured in First Boxing Videogame in Nearly a Decade

…is a little crazy? I guess you could argue that by “champ” it’s referring to the Fight Night series, which is the best (and only) boxing series around. Anyway, Fight Night Round 4 is being developed in Vancouver right now for PS3 and 360, and it’ll feature Tyson, Ali, and an “all-new physics-based animation system.” That sounds hot, but hey, I was already pulling my wallet out at “dude, we’re making a new Fight Night.” It’ll be available in 2009, at which time I will eat all of your children, impregnate you, fornicate, and probably get a great face tattoo all at the same time.

I really enjoyed FN Round 3 on the 360 and still give it a spin from time to time. I really couldn’t think of anything that was missing from the game till now. Mike Tyson is gonna be awesome! I hope they can capture the raw power of his punches and give you the option to bite an ear off as your cheap shot move. :)

Man boxing dont do that to a man, that guy was always a dumb dick. A typical thug who thinks he can beat up the world. Id love to see him up on a spelling bee. There are so many great one liners in this, my best has to be “Ill fuck to you love me..you faggot” this guy is such a joke and I would expect EA to drop Mike like a cornturd because to me EA, even tho they don’t put out many innovative games, have a business decorum that is quite sophisticated and mike simply is like damage number 1.

As long as Tyson is the final fight (of the night), in some sort of epic punch-out! with the player, I will be pleased!

    (I’m sorry)

I think it’s necessary to put him in the game from a historical standpoint, but I don’t think I’d use that as a selling point. Learn from Nintendo and just call him Mr. Dream.

I love the fight night games. I can do without Tyson. They need to get some real marquee fighters like Joe Calzaghe, JM Marquez, the Klitschko brothers, etc. Either way, I can’t wait to play it.
It would also be nice to see some DLC!

This is great news! I’ve been wanting Tyson to appear in the game for quite some time now! Hopefully he’s a playable character, I’ll use him to dominate the other fighters in the game!

Mike was a damn impressive boxer back in the day, at least on paper.
A ton of the wins he got before his first ever title fight were cakewalks.
There were a few tough ones in between but not many.
It was just the brutal boxing style and the sheer speed and power the man possessed at the time, combined with a number of chump opponents that got the media to focus on him.
All those fights made for some extremely impressive highlight reels, which turned into insane hype. Hype that is still very much alive today.

Personally I want to see Murderface… I mean Randall “Tex” Cobb in the game.

Weird choice. I guess you could go for some sort of homogenized corporate “in your face” approach when you’ve got a video game with Tyson, but it seems EA playing this straight, weird. I guess Tyson could use the money and EA wanted a name, there you go.

Do you get to end up as a male prostitute in the career mode?

While I’d love to get to play Tyson, he’s just about the only heavyweight I’m interested in. I don’t know if Calzaghe’s going to be in, because he’s shown up in Prizefighter screenshots. I’m hoping we get Pavlik, Mayweather, Taylor, Castillo, Mosely, Pacman and Hopkins.

Does Tysons cheat punch, produce a ear eating animation?

Looking forward to FNR4 especially as i now have my Bravia 52″ Xseries up in my lounge

    ———————————————
He was never a good guy, he’s a rapist and a complete joke. He wasn’t even that great a boxer, even in his prime. Holyfield and Lennox Lewis were both better boxers and better men.

Do they usually have former champs in game? Foreman, for example? I’m not familiar with the series, but putting Tyson front and center makes me less interested. It’s almost like putting Yoda in Soul Caliber.

Mike Tyson was insanely talented… then.. when crazy? Or was he crazy already? He won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, and 12 of them were in the first round! I am sure Don King had a lot to do with him going crazy… Wasn’t Don King arrested for Man Slaughter at one point?
