"Liberty 285, Code 6, 105 North Avenue 52," is an often recycled sound effect used in games to provide atmosphere and background chatter on police radios.

Much like the infamous Wilhelm Scream, this snippet of police radio chatter has appeared in countless films, television shows, and video games. Spoken by a woman, the line "(unintelligible) 5, Code 6, 105 North Avenue 52" is instantly recognizable, creating a "once you hear it, you can't UN-hear it" effect. A simple stock sound effect, it is typically used for atmospheric reasons, or to provide incidental background chatter on police radios.The unintelligible phrase at the beginning has been variously interpreted as:

  • 78 point 5
  • 7, 8, 5
  • Liberty 285
