GAH, I SHOULD'VE WAITED. NOW I HAVE NOTHING TO WATCH.

Game of Thrones: Season Two - The Thread
I was able to watch Episode 2 on HBO GO yesterday...I enjoyed it quite a bit more than the premiere and I'm fully into it now just like I was last season!
Since most people haven't seen it yet...
Fucking hell. I was interested in the badass giant lady and started reading her wiki page on the Song of Ice and Fire Wiki and my eyes caught something I shouldn't have seen.
Never again.
Oh, and goddamn kids get it rought in Westeros haha. Great episode. Can't wait till stuff really starts going crazy.
Some things I didn't like from the episode in how they relate to the book and some pacing things, but it was by far the best one so far this season.
Major spoilers below for EVERYTHING, book included, and criticisms;
Home sick from work today, so it will be a perfect day to watch the first episodes of this I reckon. Just had to read through this thread to see what the consensus was, and seems the second season is holding up well!

God damn Jack Gleeson is an insanely good actor. I fucking hate Joffrey now more than ever, if that's possible.
He's going to break some hearts when he gets older.
He does an amazing job at making me want to PUNCH HIM IN HIS SMUG FUCKING FACE.
The show seems to be moving really slowly. There are so many characters and places they need to show in every episode that they don't really get to move any of them along much. Although I am still enjoying it. I'm going to have to read the books because 1 episode a week is just not enough. I need to know what happens in the war, there are so many different factions I really have no clue who comes out on top, I just hope Joffrey get's a good beating and the North gets to rule itself.

I was sitting all alone in my house and made the loudest audible groan when yesterdays episode ended. I think I'm going to start to read the books, I don't know if I can take waiting for every Sunday to watch the new episodes.
So you will eventually finish the books currently out and face waiting 4 years to find out what happens next :-)
Well some of them are going to be major players and truth be told by now they're pretty much done setting up people like Davos, (minor spoiler below about a character)@AiurFlux said:

That was pretty crazy stuff. I hope this thing stays in a good place and doesn't go off the rails with bad actors as new characters etc.
Side note: I recognized Renly's wife from something else. Wasn't she one of Henry's wives in The Tudors? That show was mostly awful and good in some spots.
The only thing I didn't like is the recasting of The Mountain. I had it pretty cemented in my mind that the crazy brutish monster brother to the hound was Conan Stevens, seeing the new guy with what looked like a fake beard and some loose chainmail took me out of it for a moment.
@TheHT: Yeah, the armor seems like it emphasizes his height rather than his bulk, of which the new Mountain doesn't really look like he has any of. Seeing the Mountain in the first season stomping off into the crowd left a good impression of him after Robert put an end to his bloodrage. Dude was huge, tall and bulky, and he kinda looked like his brother.
Episode 3 was pretty fucking dark. When Joffrey handed that prostitute the long phallic looking piece of wood, all I could think to myself was, "Please just beat her with it. Please just beat her with it." Also, that woman birthing a black shadow demon was pretty fucked up. This show has gotten so crazy, that a woman who births dragons is completely boring now. We get it, you have dragons, let's move on.
Yeah. I don't know why they recasted The Mountain. He doesn't look... big enough. He just looks like a tall guy, but not a particularly strong guy. The Mountain is supposed to be a man that can cut a horses head off and I just don't get that from the new guy, especially since he can't even fill out the chainmail. That said though...
HRNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGH! LOOKS GOOD.
They should have started to break the books up this season. Everything seems so hurried, most scenes don't get to breathe. They also seem to be cutting huge chunks of the books out so they can condense it, and adding scenes. The way Baelish goes after Kate just seemed wrong for his character.

I agree. And i'm very glad i've read the books, I feel like i'd missing out on way too much from the season 2 episodes. They haven't done a great job building Davos's awesome character or even Stannis!

Yes, I agree. Without spoiling anything, I have to say they have covered more than half the book at this point (only 4 episodes, so far).
I guess they are saving themselves to slow down for the final episodes, but at this point it feels like many characters had been covered rather superficially (Davos and Greyjoy being two of them).
As someone who hasn't read the books beforehand (I read the first after watching all of season one, and will probably do the same with subsequent seasons) pacing seems fine. I suspect that they're going to have to make more than 10 episodes per season for the larger novels (or at least I hope so).
@TheHT: Seriously dude? In big bold print right in the first post....

Sorry man. It happened last, last night so I didn't think it would be a problem in this thread.
Did I miss something? I think my response to TheHT was deleted, but I don't remember it containing any spoilers. In my PM box I see some potential spoilery stuff from TheHT, but it didn't require the deletion of my post since what I was talking about seems like it's been cut out. Plus you really have no way of knowing what Storm's End is anyways at this point, so without context it really doesn't matter. Accident?@TheHT: Seriously dude? Just finished the new episode, liking it so far.
The seasons seems really good. Yeah not a lot of action, but in the book A Clash of Kings, not too much action happens until later, so it's seems to be following it just fine. Still love all the characters and the actors are amazing.
The final scene was pretty interesting, I was wondering how they were going to illustrate that event. Peculiar that they choose to do it where they did, since that happens after what story point is coming up (I'm guessing next episode), though it wasn't a huge thing so I can see them cutting it to make room for more stuff in the TV series.
Tyrion is still amazing.
Can't wait for seasons 3 and 4, makes perfect sense that they are splitting A Storm of Swords into 2 seasons, soooo much happens at all parts of the book, it seemed to go on forever when reading it. I bet I can wager what the end of third season cliffhanger can be :D
Enough stuff happens after that event and the actual end of the book to make another season. And they can probably jump some stuff around from the first half to the 2nd if they really need to fill space, but I doubt they will.
I can't wait for the public's response to that scene, if done well (which I believe it will be, with how the series is going already) it will be one of the most talked about finales for a long, long time.
Being someone who has read all but the 5th book (working on it currently), I still can't wait to see that scene come to life before me, it was an amazing thing to read, even though I had it spoiled slightly and knew it was coming.
