IGN says Telltale is making a Game of Thrones game!

As a fan of the Song of Ice and Fire series (Winds of Winter, get over here!) and the Walking Dead games by Telltale, I am super pumped up by this. If this was about Dunk & Egg (90 years before Game of Thrones) that would be awesome, but I would be fine with it being original content.

IGN has learned from multiple sources that Telltale Games is developing a game based on George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones.

It’s worth noting that, while “Game of Thrones” is the title of HBO’s series based on Martin’s books, the series itself is actually known as A Song of Ice and Fire, and the first book is titled Game of Thrones. It’s currently unclear what title Telltale will be using for its game, and whether the storyline will be based on the show, books, or something entirely new.

We reached out to Telltale and received the following statement from Steve Allison, SVP of Publishing:

“We get these sorts of rumors about what we could be working on next cropping up all the time. Officially we have no comment.”

This must've been that "dream IP" they were talking about.

Way more interested in this than Walking Dead Season 2, this should be fantastic.

Let's place our bets right now. Who will finish their series first - Telltale or George R.R. Martin?

Pffft come on, there's absolutely no doubt who the winner of that race would be.

@breadfan: Depends on if it's football season and if the Jets are winning.

Well fuck Walking Dead, gimme this. Put Clementine in it for kicks.

Guess it makes sense. Wondering how graphic Telltall will make the games is what I'm interested in the most.

I'm gonna fuck that dwarf!

Both Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us are very graphic. No reason to think this wouldn't be.

So. Fucking. Awesome.

"Lord Walder Frey will remember that."

I don't have a better joke.

How good do you think it's gonna be, on a scale of 1 to 10 floppy wieners?

Theon is no longer in possession of a wiener.

Hm, I'm thinking a compilation video with the choice-wheel and lines like that popping up could be really hilarious. How come that hasn't been done yet?

Hodor run includes choosing all of the [...] options.

#30 Posted by Video_Game_King (34618 posts) -

@aegon:

Then said wiener must necessarily be quite floppy.

FUCKING YES.

Queen Clementine has a ring to it. Lord Lee too.

This is great, especially after those other two Game of Thrones games were pretty crud.

Gonna play the entire game completely silent

I hope this is false.

That's basically a dream game. Probably too good to be true. The comment could go either way "Officially we have no comment... but stay tuned." or "Officially we have no comment... but don't hold your breath."

I just got a ginormous nerd boner. Maybe the biggest nerd boner of my life. Don't touch me. Don't look at me. Don't even read this post I'm posting, because it's ready to blow and anything could set it off.

Hells yeah! Now if Winds of Winter would come out. I swear George writes at a snails pace.

Yeah writing gigantic complex novels is easy!

I have no interest in Game of Thrones, but I'll play this.

Don't worry, that's a good one.

#41 Posted by SeanCoughing (252 posts) -

I pray to the god of tits and wine that this is good! Oh who am I kidding, it will be the stallion that mounts the world!

#42 Posted by BeachThunder (11265 posts) -

Ugh. This might be the one Telltale game that I don't bother with =/

#43 Posted by Blackout62 (1303 posts) -

For this game they've replaced the silent option with "Hodor".

Press X to Hodor.

We're all too busy pretending it's the 90's.

I'd be down for a simple turn based strategy game on GBA instead.

#48 Posted by JayEH (512 posts) -

I really hope its based on the books!

The first episode of The Wolf Among Us proved that Walking Dead wasn't just a fluke so I hope this is true, seems like the setting fits really well with the strong morale choice stuff they have been doing.
