I have payed for and downloaded AoB, but every time I try to play it, it won't start up.

If anyone has an answer to my problem, please help.  The game looks like fun, but being unable to play it is getting on my nerves.

Can you be a bit more specific? Apparently it may not work under Vista. That's all I can really offer to you with my current knowledge of your situation.

How does "Games do not run after 'Preparing to launch'" sound?

My computer runs on Vista, and the problem happened after I accidentally exited out of that SecureRom program without completing it. 

I tried reinstalling AoB, but it won't even let me delete it.

And on the off-chance that it doesn't work on Vista, that really blows.

Try opening up installscript.vdf (it should be in the game's folder in \Steam\steamapps\common\) in WordPad and see what installer programs it runs. Then try running them all (installscript.vdf is how Steam properly chooses the installers for a game on first run).

There was nothing under the name  ' installscript.vdf ' but I did find  ' 21600_install ' and it gave me the following.

Something similar happened with me and The Maw. You say you didn't install the securerom? Try going to the folder (c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\ageofbooty) and see if there's a securerom executable, otherwise just try reinstalling.
