Aigis is an anti-shadow android created by the Kirijo Group whose sole purpose is to defeat Shadows. She also has human-like functionalities, allowing her to socialize with her dormmates, and enable her to control her own persona. Her weapons consist of rifles, grenade launchers, etc. and has the best defense out of all the SEES members. Aigis also has a special mode called 'Orgia Mode' which enables her to attack the enemy at full power. Unfortunately after using it, she breaks down, requiring immediate cooldown, and her turns will be skipped after a while. After cooling down, she finally recovers. Her initial persona is Palladion and her ultimate persona is Pallas Athena, both belonging in the Chariot Arcanum. In Persona 3 FES, the player can also have the option to date her. Doing so establishes the Aeon Arcana Social Link. Surprisingly so, going out with her can upset other girls.
Aigis first appears in the game when SEES takes a vacation to Yakushima. Junpei, Akihiko, and the main character go to the beach for Junpei's "Operation Babe Hunt", where they attempt to ask out as many girls as they can. Junpei then spots a girl standing by the pier, looking at distance. The three of them attempt to ask her out but fail to do so. She is then later revealed as an anti-shadow weapon, and she is the last of her type. She would be joining SEES from then on. She also approaches the main character constantly and wants to "always be by his side" so she can protect him all the time. Aigis also takes part in defeating the twelve Arcana Shadows, which the SEES members believe doing so would finally put an end to the Shadows, Tartarus and the Dark Hour. When they defeat the last Shadow, they later figure out they have been deceived by Shuji Ikutsuki. They also notice Aigis is missing. Realizing the problem might lie inside Tartarus, the SEES members investigate, and are in for a big surprise. Ikutsuki explains to all of them about Nyx and the Fall, and how they have helped him get closer to his goal. Aigis is controlled by Ikutsuki and orders her to eliminate the SEES members. But she cannot perform the order so because of her desire to protect and her attachment to Minato. Instead of killing SEES, she frees them, and breaks being controlled. Realizing his plan has failed, Shuji then murders Mitsuru's father atop of Tartarus and then jumps to his death below.
Later on in the game, when Ryoji Mochizuki transfers to Gekkoukan High School, she thinks he is dangerous and is the only one constantly suspicious whenever he is around. Aigis cannot explain why, but she always says that there is something mysteriously off about Ryoji. And then, on a full moon, Aigis meets Ryoji on the Moonlight Bridge, and attacks him. It is revealed that Ryoji is Death, the thirteenth Arcana. Ten years ago, Ryoji's sole purpose of existing was to summon Nyx into the world and bring about the Fall. Aigis was created to defeat Shadows, and her first mission was to defeat Death. They had the same battle ten years ago on the same location. But Aigis could not defeat Death, and did what she thought was necessary; she sealed Death inside a young boy, who happened to be in a car accident nearby. That young boy turned out to be Minato Arisato. This is why she feels a strong attachment to Minato, because she still feels guilty about what she did during that time. Finally regaining their memories, Ryoji claims he is different from before, having been inside Minato for ten years and inheriting his human qualities. Aigis is still unable to defeat Ryoji and shuts down after the battle. She would be unavailable for a while. When she finally returns in service, her personality is more human. When SEES decide to fight Nyx, Ryoji tells them that they must reach the top on January 31st. Before he leaves, he apologizes to Aigis for all the pain he put her through. Aigis replies: "I will never forget that you were my enemy, and my friend."
When SEES fight Nyx and the main character performs the Great Seal, Aigis and him were the only ones who still have memories of Tartarus, Dark Hour, and the final battle. On the Gekkoukan High rooftops, the main character lays on Aigis's lap and dies in his sleep. Aigis vows to protect him always.
In Persona 3 FES, "The Answer" chapter, Aigis replaces Minato as the main character. Having died during the final battle against Nyx, he dies in his sleep and then falling into a coma. Still feeling guilty about not being able to protect the main character, she decides not to attend Gekkoukan High School when the next school year starts, and remains in the lab. She also keeps his evoker after his death. When Metis emerges from the floor of the dormitory and attacks everyone, they find out a new threat has emerged. They also figure out they are stuck inside the dorm and the date March 31st is always repeating. In order to get rid of the threat, they venture within the Abyss of Time and attempt to discover what they are up against. Aigis inherits the main character's power to summon multiple personae, and the Wild Card ability, giving her access to the Velvet Room, as he did. When they get to the end, they decide to open the door to the past, when Minato used the Great Seal on Nyx during the final battle. Minato has also become the Great Seal himself, sealing off Nyx to prevent humanity from calling out to her. When they finally discover what really happened to him, Aigis and the others promise to live the most out of their lives. It can be inferred in the ending that Aigis attends Gekkoukan High the following school year and lives with Yukari as dormmates.
Aigis is a major supporting character of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 and main character of Persona 3 FES's "The Answer". She is an anti-Shadow android created by the Kirijo Group.
