He has worked on sound design for video games including Resident Evil 4 and movies including 'Star Trek' (2009) and 'The Day After Tomorrow'. Alan, along with co-worker Mark Stoeckinger, was nominated for an Academy Award in 2009 for 'best achievement in sound design' for their work on 'Star Trek'. The nomination was Alan's first and Mark's second. The duo however finished as a runner-up to Paul N.J. Ottosson's work for the movie 'The Hurt Locker'.
