Is Alan Wake any good? I'm a huge fan of survival horror games, especially the Resident Evil games back when they used to be good (everything before RE4 & RE5).

but I digress
Alan Wake is good, tense fun but it's pretty short and I don't remember there being much in the way of replay value unless you're a completionist (the pages) or if you're planning on getting the DLC too. I'd say it's a rental (that's what I did).
Definitely. It's my Game of the Year this year so far, though I haven't played Assassin's Creed yet. It has excellent pacing, graphics (especially lighting, the best lighting I've ever seen, period), writing, storytelling, voicing, controls. It's not survival horror though, and it doesn't really fall under the genre of horror. On the front cover of the game it refers to itself as a "Psychological Action Thriller" which is probably the best way to describe it. I don't know why people keep thinking it's a horror game.
Also, it's a fairly lengthy game for a strait up action game. It doesn't keep count but it was definitely around 18-20 hours when I beat it. That is, if you're a person who likes to explore your game worlds. For a game like this, the maps and areas are absolutely massive.
