Is Alan Wake any good? I'm a huge fan of survival horror games, especially the Resident Evil games back when they used to be good (everything before RE4 & RE5).

It's not survival horror, but it's still definitely worth buying.

Yes

Definitely. It's my Game of the Year this year so far, though I haven't played Assassin's Creed yet. It has excellent pacing, graphics (especially lighting, the best lighting I've ever seen, period), writing, storytelling, voicing, controls. It's not survival horror though, and it doesn't really fall under the genre of horror. On the front cover of the game it refers to itself as a "Psychological Action Thriller" which is probably the best way to describe it. I don't know why people keep thinking it's a horror game. 
 
Also, it's a fairly lengthy game for a strait up action game. It doesn't keep count but it was definitely around 18-20 hours when I beat it. That is, if you're a person who likes to explore your game worlds. For a game like this, the maps and areas are absolutely massive.

I never got around to buying Alan Wake when it came out, but in a (partially drunk) snap derision brought it on Games On Demand a couple of days ago. 
 
 I've barely stopped playing it since.  One of my favorite games of the year.

Absolutely. It's not a perfect game by any means but its really goddamn good.

how many dlcs are out for it?

I was kind of disappointed by it, but thats not really saying much. Its still an excellent game. Its not Max Payne, but its still got some real strengths.
