Early Career
Alex's first gaming industry jobs back in 1997 revolved around QA testing for
LucasArts's
Star Wars games, including
Star Wars: X-Wing Collector's Series and
Star Wars: Jedi Knight- Mysteries of the Sith as well as for
Grim Fandango. The following year, he was credited as Lead Tester for
Star Wars: Episode I- Racer on the
Game Boy Color and
Mac versions of the game. He continued as Lead Tester and general QA testing in a few other Star Wars games and soon moved to Gameplay Consultant in 2000 on the
PlayStation version of
Star Wars: Episode I- Jedi Power Battles and
Star Wars: Demolition.
Alex finally started taking a serious look away from Star Wars and QA department in 2003 when he worked on level design for
Gladius. In 2005, he debuted with
Activision on the title
Whac-A-Mole where he was the title's Design Adviser. While at Activision, he worked on lesser-known titles such as
Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball MAX'D and
The Hustle: Detroit Streets. In 2006, he worked for
EA Games as
Superman Returns's Project Manager.
Current Work
A year after leading for Superman Returns, he founded
Gaijin Games where he now works as both game designer and CEO. The studio, including
Chris Osborn and
Mike Roush, is currently working on their fourth
Bit.Trip game,
Bit.Trip RUNNER to be released on the
Wii Shop Channel.
Miscellaneous
- Some of Alex's favorite game soundtracks include Rez, Metroid, Super Metroid, Mega Man 3, the entire Silent Hill series, and PixelJunk Eden.
- Favorite games include Stampede, Super Metroid, Silent Hill 2, Cho-Aniki, Rez, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and dotstream.
- Although not listed as one of his favorite games, Parappa the Rapper changed Alex's life.
- He has been used in a promotional video for WarioWare D.I.Y. entitled "Alex Neuse Made It Too."
