AVP a decade PAID OFF!!
I think there are a LOT of people can agree that ALIENS and PREDATORS are the most BADASS characters of all time. Before anything I am a HARDCORE fan of this franchises. In summary AVP is awesome!! I have been waiting for this more than a decade since I played AVP on the arcades... this game is an honor to the PC AVP shooters. It kept the feeling of nostalgia to the movies I always loved. But to be honest I don't know if is gona be for everyone, this is pretty much for the fans.
This is instantly like an oldschool shooter this is gona be liked by fans of DOOM, QUAKE and UNREAL TOURNAMENT. This is a FPS with for the HARDCORE. Here enemies are hard to kill even in multiplayer, if you do something wrong you die.
The CAMPAING of the game is pretty sweet but I have to admit that the old PC version had better campaing with the alien and the predator... the marine on the other hand I loved it... is how is suppose to be dark, scary and some sad moments near the climax and by the way... the climax was jawdropping for me but like I say... the marine is the best campaing in my opinion, predator is cool though it doesn't really have much attatchment... it was cool because... well... you are a Fn PREDATOR and its play style improved greately since the predator on AVP PC... The new dashing and lock on jumping work great with some skill you could become a real predator and never being shot and taunt your prey.
The alien campaing is kind of lame it has some cool moments but I can say is just good gameplay because you dont have an inspiring motive to progress, you are basicaly an ant taking orders.
The MULTIPLYER.... ooooh man!!! what can I say... I loved it!! I don't know why a lot people didn't liked the rock paper sissor melee style.... its genious, it takes the melee of HALO the knife of MODERN WARFARE and improved it in a way that you cant just push the melee like an idiot. The modes are CHAOS!! modes like species team deathmatch is mayhem is interesting because you have to be extra carefull with your actions, usually you concentrate in the oppossite team... but now you need to consider a second team to worry. Modes like Predator hunt we can se a lot of variarions of it in HALO, UNREAL TOURNAMENT, etc... but here actually makes more sence just because of the characters... in PREDATOR it is what happens, a bunch of marines against one predator... AWESOME!! I could say the same for the MODE of INFESTATION just like the movies ALIENS start killing all the humans until there is one suvivor... who... pretty much is death in seconds lol.
The SURVIVOR mode is a nice extra playing with 4 player to infinity... 4 players against waves of ALIENS... Is kind of like NaziZombie in COD5 or HORDE in GearsOfWar 2. Starts with punny lame aliens but increases to bigger and stronger ALIENS, you only have a little time between wave and wave to replenish weapons and health, by saying little time I mean like 3 SECONDS!!! so.... good luck lol.
The GRAPHICS... they are good enough for me, obiously it could have better graphics but... cmon MODERN WARFARE 2 graphics aren't awesome either... is just good enough, I strongly think AVP has better ILUMINATION than MW2, MW2 on the other hand has better Photography, in AVP there are some camara angles in the CUTSCENES that just look ugly.
In the SOUND department all I can say is WOW!! the sound effects are just classic, most of them are taken directly from the movies like the MOTION SENSOR (very spooky thing) , the PULSE RIFLE sound, the PREDATORS gadgets, etc. with tons of original yet inspired from the movies dialogs and sounds. The music is not amazing but is good enough it has that ALIEN PREDATOR feel all over the place, I must say that the end credits theme is AWESOME one problem... is the only memorable theme in my opinion.
On the ANIMATION side... how to say it, is awesome and is dull at the same time... I could guess that some animations were rushed and some were polished beautifully. For example... when you do a finishing move with the PREDATOR the animation looks beautifull, but if you are in the other perspective (you are the one who died) you just dont know what the hell happend to you. You just see the predators face and a lame animation with his claw and you pretty much say "what happend???".
Thats pretty much it, I would have given this game 10/10 but it has some things I missed from the AVP2 on PC
CAMPAING: in the AVP2 the three campaings where diferent but there was a point in the story where the 3 storys crossed.
MULTIPLAYER: there are no classes in the new AVP it was like Call of Duty, now there are only SKINS , just visual :(
WEAPONS: THEY REMOVED A LOT OF WEAPONS!!!! the marine had a beautifull GRANADE LAUNCHER with 4 types of granades (Explosive, EMP, Proximity and SPIDER), The MINIGUN!!! The PREDATOR had the NET GUN that was pretty much the same as in the movie PREDATOR 2 and the SPEAR rifle the sniper rifle of the predator :(
