Doesn't there have to be a good game to prove the value of a title, and then people start copying it? It's not like there were multiple FPSs to choose from when Wolfenstien came out. There weren't a choice of soccer/hockey/air hockey games when Pong came out. Yet, there's a choice of cheerleading games.

Because young girls like the word cheerleader and hence it sells, and when something sells people make more of it.

Was that other game not already released?

We Cheer came out September 16. I'm not sure how well it's sold so far, but only has about two months alone on the market. Soon it will have competition, which could potentially cut into its sales.

If there is indeed an audience for these games of course.

this game releases in a month or so so we cheer still holds it monopoly for a while. Competition is always a good thing for the end consumer, perhaps the next games in this vein will have a higher production value. We Cheer looks a lot better than this i must say... but i am curious how the combination of balance board and gestures will work with this title. there is a wiiware game called helix that proved me that rytmenm games with gestures work and are a lot of fun.

Because some companies think females can't play or don't enjoy normal games, they feel they need to create games that will appeal to females. It's total bullcrap and this kind of stuff irritates me.

My guess is that this more aimed at very  young girls than females, see it as a doll."
