I was loving this game till the hacking parts. They don't give you near enough time to spot the passcodes, highlight(which is very slow at responding), and hit the triggers before the damn timer goes off!!
Is there a way to slow this down through skills or do I just need to be faster?Seriously, what the hell man.

I'm playing the PC version by the way, though using a 360 controller.

it's not that bad; I wonder though, I started as a Tech specialist. What did you start as? Maybe you need to put more points into the tech skills or whatever it was called.

Basically, the game is pretty brutal about how you customize your Mike.  If you are not a trained hacker, you will fail at hacking.  If you aren't trained in stealth, you will be seen when infiltrating.  And if you didn't put points into combat and health, you will struggle through those sections.

Basically, choose two out of the three and do your best.

There are gloves you can buy that give you more time to hack, but really it's just something that you get better at over time. I dropped two points into tech (whcih is enough for the first rank of the hacking skill) and that was more than enough for the entire game.

Yeah it's an RPG, there a trade off. You're not suppose to be able to beat all the minigames unless you put skills into them. They do get harder.

I vastly prefer controller over keyboard for that game.

I spent two points on sabotage like Mister Gerstmann when the hacking mini games got harder, and I never had to worry about it again. And remember you can cancel in the middle of hacking and try again. The arlam won't go off.

This.  Hacking is still frustrating, but I practiced enough that I can spot the first one within a few seconds.  Had to search for the second, but practice  is key here.

For the first hour, hour and a half, I was totally confused at hacking. I found myself crossing my eyes and unfocusing a little helped me spot the code (most of the time)

I just stated this game and I had to look up online an explanation of how to play the hacking game.  The in-game tutorial made no sense to me.  Finally, with the help of the internet, I figured it out.  And, it is still awful.  I never thought I'd find a mini-game more detestable than the resource mining in Mass Effect 2, but here it is.  So far, I dropped a couple of points into the Tech skill (I went "Freelancer") and I guess that helps as long as it doesn't get any harder.  The way it works right now, every time I encounter something I need to hack, I have to get up and sit in front of my HDTV and do the puzzle.  I can't see those unmoving codes from my couch.  It'sa huge painin the ass.  I really really really hate this hacking game.  I also have nothing good to say about lock picking, but that can still be accomplished without me having to leave the comfort of my couch each time.

It's too bad, because there is a lot to like in this game so far.  I'm very early on, but I like the timed dialog and the "suave-aggressive-profession" choices is more like what Mass Effect was promised to be like than what Bioware actually delivered.

I've been doing pretty well with the hacking computers mini-game.  You just have to have good eyes and look around for the unmoving codes, and lock them in.  It definitely helps to put a few points in sabotage, which I believe is the skill that makes you become a hacker.  Be patient, and you should do well on it.

The computer hacking is easiest because if the clock starts to run
out, you can just exit & go back in.  Locks are more painful since
you can't  back out once you fuck it up. Also, you can use EMP,
it's the omni-gel tool of Alpha Prote. :)
