Looking on Amazon.co.uk and the Game and Gamestation sites it looks like it's available now, did it come out today? If it is, the fact that there's almost no reviews and how little mention there's been of it makes me slightly dubious. I might save my money until there's a bit more info on it.
Alpha Protocol
Game » consists of 11 releases. Released May 27, 2010
Control rogue agent Michael Thorton as he tries to unearth an international conspiracy in the near future (where everybody seems to have a hidden agenda or two) in this third-person action RPG.
Hang on, is this out? (UK)
God, I picked this up today on a whim and I really wish I hadn't. I played the tutorial and started the first mission and I ended up stopping because I just don't like it at all.
The game looks pretty bad, has annoying pop-in and at times seems to just jump for a split second trying to load. I've ran into a room and been able to sit for a few seconds before the blurry texture of a sign on the wall finally sorts itself out and I can actually read it. I don't really find the combat very satisfying and it honestly feels like something I would have expected from a PS2 game or something. I know that's harsh, but it's how I feel. If other people end up loving it then power to them but I just can't.
I might go back to it later and give it another chance but so far I really don't care for that game at all. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had nothing better to play, but right now I have several games I'd rather be playing.
" @Vanek: If you can get past the tutorial and saudi it does get a little better.. tho the combat is the downside of this game "But that's the thing, the story doesn't interest me in the slightest. I've never cared for military or secret agent fiction so what is the good part of the game?
The only positive thing about this so far is that I paid for it using credit I got from trading in old games. I wanted to get Blur actually, but that wasn't in stock for some reason so I settled for Alpha Protocol. Big mistake.
