This game has been in development hell long enough, that I actually recommended it for the next Endurance run, after the last one. When it was supposed to come out soon, way back then. But I think the long, seemingly branching story, the RPG elements, the quirkiness, all seem like we could grow to love watching Dave and Drew play it. Plus the espionage angle would be a nice change up from the the bizarro-world of Persona and Deadly premonition. Also, there's apparently sex scenes.
So, what do you think, Zach?
Alpha Protocol
Game » consists of 11 releases. Released May 27, 2010
Control rogue agent Michael Thorton as he tries to unearth an international conspiracy in the near future (where everybody seems to have a hidden agenda or two) in this third-person action RPG.
I spy another Endurance Run candidate?
Seriously they have E3 to worry about plus all the new games coming out. Make a community ER if your dying for one but don't expect another one from the GB crew until next year.
Nope, I'm not sure that feature will ever return. And if it does, it seems to be exclusively japanese games, that has some crazy story or something. Something that requires grinding and making jokes about the huge cultural differences.
No, there are little to none funny parts. Dying and animation is funny looking but it would get boring after a while. The game is also about 12 hours long from the livestreams I saw.
" I don't think this game is long enough for thatDP has goofy redeeming qualities that make it fun to watch people get angry over. Alpha Protocol will likely just be unpolished, uninspired and unfinished
@Whisperkill said:" no. I have a strong feeling this game will be utter crap. "Isn't Deadly Premonition tho? "
they endured persona because it was long
they endured dp because it was weird
they wont endure third person rpg clone number 5
As much as I like AP I just don't think it'd work well for an Endurance Run. If you blow through the game without taking your time you can kill it off in like 10 hours I've heard.
If they're going to do an Endurance Run of an actual bad game I'd vote for Darkest of Days. That quick look is hilarious and still one of my favorites. But realistically we're not seeing another ER for a loooong while, and after DP, they'd probably want to play something they actually thoroughly enjoy. Doing too many ERs of games with issues would probably make them leave the industry
They need a game with a lot of charm. Persona 4 was perhaps the most charming JRPG released in a decade. Jeff ended up loving that game, and Jeff does not like RPGs. That's how charming the characters, the dialogue, and the story is. Deadly Premonition has nothing but how uniquely strange it is. Everything about that game is poorly executed (save maybe the direction in the last couple hours), and yet it almost works because of how singular it is.
Alpha Protocol is a great story with some crappy gameplay, but it is not charming.
And having to make choices that effect the game as much as they do in Alpha Protocol would destroy Vinny. He would get hesitant over making dialogue choices in Persona, which have very little effect whatsoever. Vinny says it took him 90 hours to beat Dragon Age, and I'm sure at least 30 were him staring at his monitor with his hands covering his head.

Oh man, just the thought of Vinny doing that...
Combined with the whole hoarding of items thing, which i do as well. It's just so damn funny to think about...
Too soon. I doubt they'll do an ER so close to the DP one. In fact, I wouldn't expect one even over this summer.
Yeah, too soon, and too soon after AP's release too.
On the other hand, as soon as AP drops to around $20 I suspect it'll be up on the Endurance Run chopping block. It's the right kind of game for it, and at that point where the game is that cheap, the publisher will be looking for any press to get a little more shelf life.
I don't think so. I still say Persona 5 is the only game that should be endured next by the crew. And by the crew, I mean only Vinny and Jeff.
