Anarchy Reigns
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Jul 05, 2012

GB Anarchy Reigns Tournament (Sign-ups + Discussion)
@Snowgoons Well, I figured out why I don't have a DLC code or anything. I got the game from Best Buy, D'oh! Ah well, Bayo and the two extra game modes would have been nice but I guess there's not much I can do now...though I didn't find a shady looking site saying I could download a keygen. Probably won't try it out in fear of virus and whatnot.
Edit: Will probably be playing tonight (i.e. in 9 hours-ish) so if anyone wants to play feel free to hit me up.
As far as rules go for this tournament we have to keep battles to the smallest amount of players if it's a free for all. Big battle royal matches might be fun but not a good setting for the gameplay in a serious environment unless we go with teams. One of the problems with that is creating teams. Optimally there would be qualifiers and we would assign people to teams split between a user ran ranking level. The current ranking level in game is not accurate due to being able to level purely by spending time with the game. To my knowledge there are no PP or BP like system (Street Fighter 4) which we could divvy out teams. Once you get it down to say four players left in the tournament then you could do a battle royal or cage match brackets to determine placing.
A major problem for this game competitively is that unless you go one vs. one, you will run into problems and people complaining about being unfairly double teamed and what not. It is impossible for luck not to play a factor with the random events and situations that people will wander into which scores them for an opportunity kill.
With that being said; the prizes are nothing to write home about and that's how this game goes so I say fuck it and lets play Death Ball.
https://play.spotify.com/track/3hjT7c1zKb1NMvgZmwUVvc
If anyone wants to setup some matches or get a group send me a PM. Also if you are running this and want to hear a more detailed explanation on how I would try to run it or to bounce ideas off each other send me a PM.
This pre order code seemingly isn't working for anyone, so in the event it does eventually work I didn't want it to go to waste, so up for grabs: NCCK - NTNH - CRLT
I will probably be getting another code, I know I will have one coming in my email for @Ducksworth if he still wants it? I gave @Liquidus one, and I am going to secure maybe one more code from the EB games I bought the game from since they told me to call back tomorrow for one.
SoooOoOo, I might have an extra one for someone if anyone else is in need. =)
I actually gave Gamestop a call to see how much the game would trade in for, I thought if I can get $20 back, I don't have a problem shelling out an extra $10 for Bayo. The resale value of this game is $7.
Thank you for your generosity duder!

Well, there is cage match. That seems like the way to go for this kind of thing.
@Liquidus: I agree that cage match is the most dedicated and professional way to handle this. The game rules setup with best of 3 and there is no rampage. We could easily setup winner and loser brackets. . . But don't you feel like this does need some sort of crazy with it? I think we should try to integrate another game type into it like a battle royal or Dethball. For this game I don't think a constant bracket tournament would be that satisfying.
How about randomly assigned teams and we do Dethball, Tag battle, or Tag deathmatch? The losing team battle each other within the team and the winner goes into losers bracket, like some sort of future Dethsport. It would allow for team play with better motivation for doing better. If you can't beat the other team you better be the best member on your team.
Once it's chipped down to 8* individual players then we move to bracket Cage match.
Or we start with cage match at 8* players and go down to a final 4 person battle royal.

I'm not really in it for a serious tournament thing (though I'll gladly join) but if there are other like minded folks, we can start a separate casual death match and then those that get eliminated from the tourney could join the other game.
You know what I might be down for this... we'll see. I'm going to leave here in like 10-ish minutes and go trade in X-com and Far Cry 3 and get Anarchy Reigns. That one trailer plus the quick-look has sold me now. Even if watching Ryan play was an exercise in agony because he wasn't even dodge rolling when there were clearly dodge controls!

So reading through this....I'm unsure what seems like the most populated verison? I would have thought the PS3 version soley due to japan having an affinity for that but now people are saying that they are having hard time finding matches on PS3?
I'm pretty sure the PS3 version is the more popular version.
And yes, Ryan did a terrible showing of this game. It's a shame because I bet that turned a lot of people off when if they had just saw the awesomenes of this game, they would have been sold.
Since when did PS3 start having so many more players for multi platform games. I may sell mine back to EB and buy the PS3 version at this rate.

It doesn't, at least on Giant Bomb. But from my observations, PS3 has always had more people willing to participate in events like this compared to people on the 360.

How is it like finding people to play on PS3? There seems to be nobody playing on Xbox. I am struggling to get any game type going.

It may take a couple of mins but the games always fill up. I hope the community sticks with it for a while.

I hope so too. I did enjoy what I was able to get into. I am just bummed that so few people seem to be playing it. I want to check out all the modes but can't. It does not help that a match will not start until a room is full making it difficult to start games because people don't want to wait.
I'm getting in to a few more games now, but it's always just the deathmatch modes and capture the flag. The ranked match mode never puts me in a battle royale or death ball match for some reason.
In any case I'm still finding the multiplayer to be often times frustrating but still sorta fun. I don't think I'm going to be playing around with this for too long, though. There are already plenty of players who will absolutely decimate me and because of how fast it all happens I just don't feel like I'm learning from any of it.
Still up for this GB tournament, though!

I see where you are coming from. I may sell the game soon. Not because I want to but it annoys me that I can't get everything from it. Finding any match is a hassle.
For me personally, I am playing more of the campaign just to play it haha, this is the sort of game like the recent Twisted Metal is/was to me, where even if real people stop playing it, I will still have fun with the bot modes here and there. (I would prefer to play with real peeps but what can you do :P The times I have tried to play online I have had no probs finding a game on PS3 so yea not sure if the XBOX community is just not embracing the game yet? :/) There just isn't anything like it on the market atm. It's exactly what I wanted, multiplayer God Hand or futuristic Power Stone, I am having a blast :P Now there are some balance issues I hope they address haha, but whatever it's all in good fun.
Speaking of fun, that's all im in the tournament for. I mean if it ends up being hardcore I will still participate, but I don't really see myself winning a hardcore tournament heh.
@IrrelevantJohn I am trying to get you a code today. Called EB about 3-4 hours ago they said to give them a ring in about 15 minutes from now. So fingers crossed :D EDIT: got you a code :O
@Ducksworth I sent you a friend invite on PSN add me when you get the chance :P
@Yummylee: @ImmortalSaiyan: I've been finding people consistently for Cage Matches, but I guess that's normal since it only requires two people. I don't think Anarchy's online will last too long at all, given my current experience with the PS3 version.
Having played the game a bunch (rank 28), I certainly don't think is meant to be a competitive fighting game with deep mechanics or anything. It's just meant for dumb fun, which is why it has so many game modes, abilities, stage hazards and such. Straight up 1v1 isn't meant to be balanced, with many characters having infinite combos and others just being straight up weaker than the rest.
The most fun I've had with multiplayer has been Death Ball (Capture the Flag wasn't bad, either), playing with three other people and the rest being CPUs. It'd be fun to have that be part of the tournament, however I would have had to make this a "Death Ball Tournament" from the start with people forming their own teams of four, I think.

I have not been able to get into Death Ball but I want to. I have been enjoying the game and their is more to to the combat than it seems. I just wish their were more players. Also who made the achievements for this game? They are all for the single player. Did they foresee that the game will die off?

Sad but true, the only games I seem to see online last are shooters these days. Hell I had problems finding online games in XCOM enemy unknown the first darn day. That game though has a way bigger fanbase on PC I think though, but man it's just sad to think that the only games you seem to have luck with over a few months online are just simply Battlefield or CoD. =/
Was gonna do some co-op Dead Island tried for over an hour no one on :/
When I first read about this tournament I was wondering cause the gameplay didn't seem like something like Tekken or Street Fighter, I figured it would just be all in good fun :P I am down for whatever though :)
ALSO: People that have invited me to a game, lol I have missed about 3-4 invites for Anarchy Reigns, I am usually kicking too much butt to notice the message, or went afk for a drink then find out after I get back to the XMB. So Sorry to all who have invited me :P
@ImmortalSaiyan: I really enjoy the single player only achievements, even if they're not that original. I think multiplayer achievements are the worst considering there is always a very real possibility that some achievements will be impossible to get if you aren't insanely good at the game. Computer opponents are designed for you to beat them (even if they're really hard) while human players will never let you win if they can help it.

I see that but the focus of the game is multiplayer, it just seems weird that all the achievements would steer players towards the singleplayer.

Yeah, a good point I guess. You actually can get one achievement through multiplayer if you get to level 22 and unlock all the characters in the game. That's it though.

About that. How long does it take to unlock them in singleplayer versus leveling up? I want to play as the Rin sisters asap.

It's a tough split, actually. I'd probably say singleplayer is a better bet. Unless you're really good and get first a whole bunch in multi (or play a whole bunch of Mad Survival that gets you tons of XP), you'll hit both White and Black in single and get the Rin Sisters eventually. I know that Rin Rin is around level 16, but I had already unlocked the others before hand.

Hey Thanks for your kind offer but I received Bayonetta from someone else already. You can go ahead and give it to someone else if you like.
Got into one decent large match, today.
This game is great and the online will never die, I don't know what you guys are talking about~~. >_>
So, I apologize for not reading the thread before asking this since i'm in the middle of a deathball match respawning. If we get first place can we choose to switch prizes? I don't know a single person who doesn't own the DOTA2 beta
If you play Ruins on Mad Survival you have a chance of a Mad World round where everyone's black and white and it plays a song from Mad World. This game is seriously a love letter to Platinum Games fans
