Antic Software launched in 1984 as Antic's answer to the Atari Program Exchange, which was shuttered by Atari as the company's fortunes (and, really, the entire video game industry's) began to wane. The magazine publisher listed reader-submitted software in its magazine-turned-catalog. Some popular APX games, like Caverns of Mars, received follow-ups that appeared under the Antic Software banner.
