The Egyptian god of the dead, usually depicted as a man with the head of a jackal.


Overview

The Jackal-headed deity of embalming and death in Egyptian mythology. In the Hall of Judgement it was said that he weighs the hearts of the dead to determine whether they had led honorable lives or despicable ones.

Though Nephthys had no children with Seth, she was able to seduce Osiris (Character) into fathering a child, and Anubis was born. To shelter him from the wrath of Seth he was hidden within the tall reeds where he was found and raised byIsis (Character), goddess of maternity and other such things.

His likeness can be seen on hieroglyphic carvings on the tombs of the deceased Pharaohs, as something of a burial rite.
