Aqua Forest was one of the first games to release when the iPhone 3G launched along side the new App Store. I was originally interested in the game due to the games engine, the "Octave Engine". The game comes with a "Free Mode" that allows you to just draw any element and just play around. There is also the "Puzzle" mode which is the actually challenging part of the game. There are several categories that are begin with tutrorials to use of all the fuctions.
I was very pleased with the puzzles the game presents you with. Most of them are actually challenging and require the use and learning to manipulate and element and get it to move correctly using the iPhone's accelerometer. Sadly that is all the game is and the game has its problems.
The game runs very slowly when you have a lot going on at once on your screen. Noticeable lag is there and can be quite annoying. The game from my use actually made my iPod touch hot, from the constant use of the accelerometer. I would not use this game for long periods of time at all. The game also comes in at a hefty $7.99. That is a lot for a game with short goals and not much for you to keep it on your iPhone or iPod touch.
Aqua Forest is a unique, the only one I know to use such interesting concepts on the iPhone and iPod touch. However, what it does is not quite that entertaining in the long run. There may be some "wow" moments, but ultimately the purchase of the app will be forgotten with the plethera of other apps out there that do so much more.
