Army of Two offers up a co-op experience that is intense from start-to-finish with alot of replayability.

Overview

An Army of Two
Army of Two revolves around a private organization that contracts elite soldiers to carry out seamlessly difficult missions in exchange for cash. The two main characters are Rios and Salem, two soldiers who were once a part of the military but once they heard about the pay increase at SSC, they decided that the cause of war wasn't worth dying for.

From there they meet a lot of different contacts that help and aid them on their missions in various ways and a few suspicious individuals who may have a hidden agenda in mind.
Throughout the game you end up traveling from location to location wherever you're needed to fight. Some of the missions are controversial, but you're in it for the money. There's also a source working on the inside that is giving out vital information so as the game progresses you're really not sure who to trust anymore so there's more than one front to the storyline.

Gameplay

Army of Two is essentially a co-operative game and is best played with a friend. There are a number of different tactics that will allow you to get further in the game. Rios and Salem both have different play styles and the weapons selected also add to the mix and diversity of the game. A new and innovative idea is the introduction to a concept called Aggro. This is the main mechanic that decides the way fights are played out. It's mainly a focus for enemies since they are aware of their surroundings and threats. There are a number of ways to increase and decrease your Aggro levels in the game. If you fire at the enemy they earn your attention and will attack you will full force, making your partner go unnoticed allowing him to flank the enemies.

There is a lot of cover and is a primary tactic to go behind objects since if you get shot it gets taken from your health and could eventually down your character. This brings to another tactic, when your downed you can still shoot but will bleed out if nothing is done. Your partner must drag you to safety and heal before your gone. There is also something called an Overkill tactic. If your partner fills the entire bar of Aggro for a set amount of time it gets activated. The player that gained the Aggro will go into the Agressive mode, where bullets do 2X damage but walks slower as a result and the other partner in a Stealth mode being able to run swiflty and take enemies out with melee attacks with ease.

You need the help of your partner to do a number of other tasks to progress such as Step Jumps, which allow you to climb obstacles that weren't possible before. There are some instances where you and your partner are need each other in combat tactics such as Co-op Snipe, both taking out guards at the same time. You can swap weapons if you run out of ammo and your partner can spare something. There is a feature known as "Back to Back" and this is a stylized way to clear out a room that goes into a bullet-time mode. You can also share appreciation for your partner by giving him a High Five or Props and the same if they mess something up like a hit to the back of the head.

Unlockables
Melee Attack

By completing tasks in the Story Campaign you are rewarded money for certain tasks. The farther you get in the game, and the harder the task, the more money you receive. Also there are side missions and intels that can be collected to increase your pay grade.

This money can be spent on upgrading your various upgrades such as weapons or buying new masks. There are several mask designs, and each character has a unique set varying for both players. All the weapons are customizable and can be upgraded to prove more useful in combat. You can upgrade everything from barrel sizes to larger magazine clips even an added shield to block incoming fire. Another unique feature exclusive to Army of Two is the ability to pimp out your guns, getting it upgraded to be made of solid gold, silver, diamonds but each weapon has one preset.

Online

The online for this game is considered to be something new. It takes a lot of elements from other games and combines it into a few good game modes. Most of them are time-based objective strategy games. Where across the map there's specific tasks that have to be done with the threats of the opposing team as well as civilians that are prepared to defend their homes.

The objective of them is to complete the current task before the other team to gain the cash. In addition there are hidden intels that can be found using the GPS to earn extra cash. These are the current game modes that shipped with the game; Bounties, Extraction and Warzone each with different key focuses and hard challenges of their own.

There is also an additional DLC pack that includes other game modes as well as levels. The SSC Challenger Pack, this is where two teams compete in training exercises where they focus on accuracy of targets as well as being able to finish obstacle courses the quickest. Teamwork once again is key to succeed and is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PSN store for download.
