First!

I make myself sick, the things you do for fun while boosting gears - seriously... I've been slowly making progress, 700 odd kills every weekend, 60-90 every few weekdays. If you're wanting to get the achievement yourself send a FR to the gamer tag "GearsOfWarPpl". Everyone on there is wanting to boost, if you want to get a party going you'll find willing participants in there. I just play what I play and when I get an invite I switch to gears.

I'm working on my first guide at the moment, it's for Golden Axe: Beast Rider. Yeah I know, shut your mouth. It's not like I paid full price for it, and I'm trying to complete everything I own, slowly but surely which is why I'm boosting gears. The guides alright so far, it's a work in progress you can check it out if you want, 2 whole other people have. Yeah, the price of success is high.

I'm way behind on my games due to spending way to much time boosting lately. I got stuck into a few long, long boosts during the last year (Call of Duty 3, Army of Two, Gears of War, Farcry 2)  and some fairly decent lengthy ones (F.E.A.R., Condemned 2, The Outfit, The Darkness). Now that most of them are done, and some have the end in sight I can hopefully get started in on the pile of games I have waiting to be played.

Other than that nothing much to say, if you want to boost anything send me a message. If it's something quick I've got no problem helping. GT is Phr4nk0 same as my name here.

Today I went out with a girl to see Terminator Salvation (She was excited to see it and really like it too, which was awesome) and eat some Pho (Vietnamese soup dish, which is also awesome). She's pretty awesome too. She goes to UMass Boston and is learning Sciences so she could be one of those docs who discovers the cure for the Cancer or the common cold, which is really awesome. Smart, cute, fun, and is totally willing to watch action movies she knows nothing about. That's Fucking Awesome!

While today was filled with fun social stuff, I also looked at videogame stuff. Today's highlights are GTA4: The Ballad of Gay Tony reveal, Army of Two: The 40th Day interview, Raiden Fighters Aces review, Giant Bombcast 5-26-2009, Red Dead Redemption delayed, Modern Warfare 2 Full Reveal Trailer, Portal recommended to Awesome girl, and lastly more thinking on creating a website to begin my videogame journalist career.

I couldn't believe it. I thought the next GTA 4 episode would be about the McCreary's but I got to hand it to my friend Jeremy. He totally called that it would be about the Black guy with the AK-47 shooting the Jews in the Jewel Heist mission. He's not even the kinda guy that's in the loop about videogames. I'm almost ashamed. I don't know how he found out before the news got released today since it wasn't on the sites I checked earlier today. But you know, I'm sure it'll be good anyway since it's GTA 4 and made by Rockstar.

I played the first Army of Two. It was a disappointment. It was a game that had so much potential and didn't deliver in anyway. So the only reason I'm looking forward to the sequel is because I'm hoping that they will fix the game and not release it before it's ACTUALLY ready.

I love Top-down shooters. I don't know what it is about them. One time I played one in an arcade for 3 hours and kept having my dad get me more and more quarters to keep playing until I finally had no more. While Raiden Fighters Aces might not have the most appealing look, it's a top down shooter with fighter planes and I'm gonna try it if I get a chance (plus some extra money, cause games ain't cheap when you work 10 hours a week on 8 bucks an hour).

I'm actually listening to the Bombcast right now and well, It's cooler than I thoughted be, but It's hard to listen to them, because I'd get bored looking at the same screen in 10 seconds which is why video plus audio holds my attention way better. It's a good format to copy audio fast and make it extremely accesible.

I have heard so little info about Red Dead Redemption. It's maddening! But delays is not as maddening as others might think. Delays mean the developers are taking the time to make it good. In Rockstar I trust. I hope at E3 they reveal more than a trailer and some screenshots.

I'm super-psyched about the new Modern Warfare Trailer. It looks more like an awesome movie. It looks way more intense, badass, and original! Castle crashing anyone? But what I really liked is that they added more ways you're actually gonna play the game. At one point you see a first person view of a snowmobile firing a glock one handed. Plus another infrared missile camera reminiscent of your time in the AC-130 gunship controlling the 105, 40, and 25 mm guns. There's more characters, more places, more dudes, and more shit to do. That's a real sequel. That's why I'm pumped.

Portal is awesome and one way or another I'm gonna get awesome girl to play it. If you don't know what it is, well, use Giant Bomb to find out what it is and play it cause it's probably the single best game ever. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. You can't find any real complaint as far as a game of its type goes.

Lastly, I will begin tomorrow, May 27th, 2009 (which is now today), I will begin a blogspot to start my own seperate career into videogame journalism, featuring my reviews for Resident Evil 5, Call of Duty: World at War and soon to be completed The Getaway. In case you don't know The Getaway is probably the most realistic videogame (gameplay-wise) crime drama ever (more realistic than GTA 4 with obvious similarities), but made in 2003 for the PS2, which as far as gaming tech is old.

The future holds as I said The Getaway review with an announcement for the next game on my review list. Plus some insight into Hideo Kojami, Konami, and my only good experience with Metal Gear Solid. Then...... E3! AAAAHHHHH!!!!! And new blog! I'll add a link on this blog and in my status thingy. Awesome!

Two notorious trouble makers caught in the act! What are our schools coming to!?
Two notorious trouble makers caught in the act! What are our schools coming to!?
Working in public schools I've seen and heard about my fair share of idiotic school rules. I've seen students expelled for turning in a boyscout knife they accidentally left in their jacket pocket, large swaths of the color wheel and the entire alphabet banned from student clothing, and the elimination of all forms of competition and celebration in the classroom, but this rule just issued by the administration at East Shore Middle School in Connecticut takes the cake. After a series of rampant groin kickings at their school the principal decided that the obvious solution was to BAN ALL FORMS OF PHYSICAL CONTACT. That includes shaking hands, high fives, pats on the back, hugging, kissing, virtually all forms of horse play, and, of coarse, the fist bump! Now I could lists a whole host of reasons why this rule is not only ludicrous on its face but also virtually unenforceable, but I think this rule speaks for itself. Congratulations East Shore administraition, your school finally made the news! You really showed the world just how well you can handle regular school discipline problems. Hope you're proud of yourselves!

As some of you might have seen I have been playing some new games. To be exact three new games. Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box, Army of Two, and one of my favorites so far Deadspace. I have bought all these in Japan and haven't ordered them so I was sort of scared that some of them might be in Japanese. Luckily Burnout, and Deadspace have full english support and Army of Two has Japanese menus and subtitles but english voice work which is what matters most.

I bought a new copy of Burnout Paradise for about 25 bucks which I'm really happy about since well, its an awesome game and it was new IN english and cheap. I'm really happy with this buy and have played around 12 or 13 hours in about a week and a half. Online I thought I would never play but I have actually had a lota

Dead Space
Dead Space
fun, the photo thing when getting taken down is pretty cool and has snapped a few photos of me when I wasn't paying attention. Online isn't laggy at all which I'm pretty surprised about and happy, I have only lagged twice but only for a few seconds while the challenges loaded up. I have bought all the DLC cars and really enjoy the variety. The ones I have had the most fun with is the Toy Car set. Its really unique and funny made me laugh while taking down huge cars with this miniature toy car. Its a lot of fun and recommend this game for anyone.

Army of Two, I haven't really had much time on this game since I have had online problems. I also realized that I can only play online with people who have the Asia copy of the game which sucks since I was planning to play with a few friends in the states. So far its been enjoyable since I'm not looking at it at a technical point of view. Its just fun to run around shooting people with a pimped out gun. I will be getting back to this later on hopefully with some friends.

Deadspace I am really happy to find, it is a game that hasn't actually been released in Japan although I did buy it here. So I'm guessing that there is a foreigner somewhere who sells his games to the store I go to, I also realized that the copy of this game was ordered from Play-Asia. Who cares though? I have Deadspace, haha I have been waiting to play this game forever. Its a lot of fun and has a few point where I will jump and scream. The scares so far have been alright but a bit predictable a few times I have really got freaked out but its a really good game. Its a lot of fun calling up your girlfriend while playing, I was talking to her and then I would randomly scream. Pretty funny and fun. The game is actually really good, probably the best game I have played for a while. I was actually really amazed at that first in-game cut scene. The cut scene looks amazing, its when your in the space ship gliding towards the Drilling station and the suns blaring into your vision. It looked amazing. A lot of fun and I'm about 3 hours into that now.

So update, my brother has been lazy and hasn't sent the capture card yet and my dad is being lazy and hasn't sent my brother any money. So I won't be getting that for a while. Um I will see if I can get that as soon as possible since I'm dying to record some footage.

I have been thinking of buying RESIDENT EVIL 5, and I just found out that the Japanese version of the game has full english support so I might just buy that next week. Can't wait to play that game and I will probably play it co-op or something. I also have to finish a lot of games. I have a huge pile of games that I need to get through. Heres the start of the list...

 - Deadspace

 - Viva Pinata

 - Forza Motorsports 2

 - Burnout Paradise

 - Army of Two

 - Far Cry 2

 - Mass Effect

 - God of War

 - God of War II

 - Black

I think that is all I have left to finish but I'm still not sure. I still really want to get my hands on Persona 4, and a few other PS2 games. So I'm considering buying a US PS2 so I can play a lot of the PS2 games I missed out on. I also really wanna get a good JRPG and I'm looking at Star Ocean, and Eternal Sonata at the moment. If you have any suggestions for some good JRPG games feel free to tell me.

My friend has just bought a nice PC for gaming and I was actually considering saving up for a PC for gaming. I was looking at Dawn of War II and some other PC games and really would like to play some PC games as well. Oh and I found out that the achievements contribute to your Xbox 360 achievements which is really cool so it would help with my goal to beat my friend. Im at 15,560 Or something like that. My goal is to get up to 20,000 soon. Alright well thats about it, thanks for reading.

To celebrate the birth of 2009, I will make a simple bulletpoint list of games that I beat in 2008. There is no real order here but still.

  • Army of Two
  • Mercenaries 2
  • Rainbow Six Vegas 2
  • Fallout 3
  • Grand Theft Auto IV
  • Duke Nukem 3D
  • Castle Crashers
  • Doom
  • Wall-E
  • Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
  • Crackdown
  • Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe
  • Call of Duty 3
  • Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
  • Soldier of Fortune Payback
  • Gears of War
  • BioShock
  • Quantum of Solace
  • Battlefield: Bad Company
  • Smash TV (I guess)

Not the biggest list in the world but still, it made me realise that I still have loads of games to finish. Never got around to the first Saints Row again for example. Condemned 2 and Far Cry 2 get honorable mentions for being games that I got far in and the save corrupted. It will still take a few more months to go back to Far Cry 2, all that driving to do again!

But still have a Happy New Year and stay safe.

The question is somewhat misleading, does it mean the worst game that I played from 2008 or just worst game I played in 2008 overall. Hmm, I have to say 2008 has been a kind year towards my hunger to play and enjoy videogames. There were definitely some disappointing games they do appear every year unfortunately, but none of those games such as Army of Two or Call of Duty: World at War were too shitty, just a general disappointment.

But a game that I did play in 2008 that was actually released at the tailend of 2007 was the monstrosity of a game that was Soldier of Fortune: Payback. Thankfully, I actually didn't buy this or even rent it, my friend had the game and he knew that I was a fan of the first two games on the PC and that I should try the game out. The first Soldier of Fortune for the PC is an underrated classic in my view, it was fun, exciting and stayed fresh enough throughout. The second game went into a new direction simply because the first game was largely criticised for being unrealistic both in gameplay and story terms. All I have to say is fuck the critics! While many of you know Counter-Strike is one of my favourite games of all time but I didn't think that game needed to go towards realism, it was awesome as it was. Don't get me wrong though SOFII was a damn fine sequel and many prefer it over the original but beware, the Xbox version is a piece of shit. I didn't really go into SOF Payback with much anticipation since there was much uproar over fans that Raven Software wasn't making the game and it was announced that it was being released by Activision Value which are infamous for releasing piss-poor PC games for a cheap price. However, the game did end up being released on normal Activision but still, it felt like a budget game through and through. The game was actually released by Cauldron who made a shooter called Chaser for the PC, never played it personally but it garnered a fanbase so these guys must be decent game developers right?

Not really. The game itself actually sounds pretty pleasing to people like me who prefered the first Soldier of Fortune game but liked that the game at least had realistic guns to shoot. Payback throws a bucketload of enemies at you and you just have a gun to kill them. This would actually be decent if the controls were decent but they were some of the worst aiming controls I have ever used and that is saying something. I am playing the 360 version but I even heard the PC version aims poorly. The aiming was slow and stiffer than a badger's arse and the lock-on made it stick to enemies and it was just a pain. I tried messing around with the different options but it did fuck all, it was awful. The standard button layout was decent and it was a bit of a shame the game came out about a month after Call of Duty 4, where the controls, graphics and just overall gameplay shit all over this. When the game has down on the D-Pad to crouch, then you know there is a problem. The Soldier of Fortune games were well talked about because of the gore and Payback tries to do the series justice but it failed because the gore just looked shit and cartoonish. No one would ever look at this gore and consider it to be shocking because it looked too fake and rubbish. Believe it or not, I actually beat the game on the hardest difficulty but not only that but I beat the last too bosses in the game by just stabbing them over and over with the knife. Yes, after you stab them, they stumble and that gives you another chance to stab them again and again until they fall over dead. Pro tip there but I didn't even look that up, I tried it myself because the game became very difficult on the last level because you literally walked around a corner and died. What a load of shit, they clearly didn't playtest the hardest difficulty, arseholes!

So yeah Soldier of Fortune Payback was the worst game I played in 2008. Rubbish.

Soldier of Fortune Payback to everyone who wanted a SOF3
