A Decade of Honor

That's a lot of honor. And EA's going to pack a bunch of Medal of Honor games into one box to celebrate.

That's a lot of World War II.
That's a lot of World War II.
Man, remember the first few Medal of Honor games? They were pretty great first-person shooters back on the PlayStation. It eventually found its way to multiple platforms and first appeared on the PC with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. The developers of that would then go on to form Infinity Ward and make the Call of Duty series. So, as you can see, this constant raid of cinematic World War II-themed first-person shooters came from the Medal of Honor series. Whether that's a good thing to be rewarded or a horrific plague is up to your own interpretation.

Regardless of all that, Electronic Arts, masters of Medal of Honor, are celebrating the ten-year anniversary of the franchise by collecting five PC releases into one box. Out today, the Medal of Honor 10th Anniversary box will contain the following games:

  • Medal of Honor Allied Assault
  • Medal of Honor Spearhead
  • Medal of Honor Breakthrough
  • Medal of Honor Pacific Assault (Director's Edition)
  • Medal of Honor Airborne

The package will also contain a soundtrack, strategy information, documentaries on World War II, interviews with veterans, and so on. It'll retail for $39.99.

If you do the math on this, we won't hit the actual 10-year mark for this series until sometime next year. But don't worry, because EA's apparently planning more majesty and pageantry for the rest of this year and most of 2009. I'm not sure whether to be excited or scared about that.
