Why do people keep complaining about the quake 3 engine? It really is a testament to how good that thing was and is. Why try to change the look of the game when the consoles are running it at 60 fps? That is what makes the multiplayer for me and a lot of people. You are gonna have to wait until new consoles come out, and even then 1 or 2 years to see them use a new engine. I would think people here would know that changing engines is not always a good thing when the hardware has been pushed to the max.

Quake 3 based game engine,
PC gets DLC last and still has to pay for it,
PC port ends up a pile of dogshit and the PS3 version performs depressingly bad,
Zero originality or new interesting content,
Map design that makes Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny look advanced and well-designed,
Shittiest audio engineering this side of a circuit bent "atari punk" unit that should burn in hell and die,

Having not played any of them since MW2, this just makes me want a 2142 sequel. The Frostbite 2 engine just blows me away with the destructibility, granted it's not as crazy as Bad Company 2 for balance reasons, but if the COD series don't follow suit it's gonna feel really dated.

People talk crap about it, it's understandable, and while I personally didn't care for the first Black Ops that much, I'll stay somewhat enthusiastic about this one.

This game is the second Cold War and it's futuristic, yet the best they could come up with is Black Ops 2? I get wanting that money making Black Ops name on there, but fuck. Way to take the wind out of anyone who somehow still cares sails. Oy...

I think a better setting for Black Ops 2 could have been during the drug wars of the 70's and 80's. Being part of a black ops team tasked with hunting down drug lords in South America, either being betrayed by the CIA or maybe the story starts as a CIA agents who goes undercover and somehow becomes the drug lord, then story flips to a team in the late 80's hunting down the former CIA agent gone rouge, ending in a shoot out like Pablo Escobar...

But noooo, lets just do COD: Future Warfare instead!

No, the first Call of Duty is on 360 and PS3. It's not exclusive to PC anymore. Hasn't been since Modern Warfare 2 came out.

@AlexW00d: The reason why I said if you consider it or not, is because maybe you're referring only to the Call of Duty games sold in retail, if you do consider all of the Call of Duty's released on this gen console though XBLA and retail, then the first Call of Duty is accounted for, making it eight. Just wanted to make it clear that the original Call of Duty is on 360 and PS3. I don't know if you forgot that, or never knew.

Is this thing not dead yet, god I feel like I'm reliving 2007. Halo this Halo that! Quick someone design a new console shooter to steal away the cash of the main stream! We also seem to be reliving that moment when everyone was getting really tired of WW2 games and now everyone is getting really tired of Mordern Combat games. Good thing about that though is I predict Relic will come in at the last moment and release CoH2, in THQ's last desperate attempt to make more money!

Hopefully there's a secret Kinect/Move version of Wacky Gator in the game instead of Zork

Black Ops was the last COD game I played and I liked the setting, I was hoping they were going to go back to a 50's/60's anti commie/castro CIA type thing. I really like that era cos everyone was so misguided, prejudiced and horrible and governments could get away with all sorts - good setting for a game.

The future, not so interested, I hope its not set in 2030 or something but they go further forward, the only point of having shit in the future is so you can get really wild with the weapons etc.

Also, I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of stuff Treyarch added to Black Ops, even if I didn't love all of it; hopefully that's continued here. I feel like I won't want to get this when it comes out, but I realize that's just how I feel now and that I'll probably change my mind closer to release (seems to happen every time for me, and I do still enjoy the games).

Someone needs to tell Activision that their record is broken...

They better be going far more sci-fi on this. Like drones better be the tip of the ice berg. If they go nuts watching that show Future Weapons I could find that pretty interesting I will say. Like it'd be awesome to have those air burst grenades to shoot into windows.

I say that for me, and maybe the other people who are burnt out. And maybe the game doesn't do AS well, but I bet it does really well anyways. Even if they are going to run CoD into the ground ala Guitar Hero, I think they aren't there yet with the majority of their audience.

Will buy. CoD is still pretty fun.

Black ops multiplayer was rad. Day one purchase for me.

The last Call of Duty game I bought was MW2, it's a fantastic game. From what I played neither Black Ops or MW3 were up to snuff. At this point I think it likely I'll be buying Call of Duty with the next generation of consoles.

Strip out the one conceit that made Blops interesting, nice one.

The Black Ops setting in a different time-frame would be really cool. I could see a lot of "What ifs" to today's supposed conspiracies.

I look forward to it, Black Ops was the only CoD that I've enjoyed since the original WW2 releases.

Really can't wait. Black Ops was a series high and I can't wait to see what Treyarch will learn from MW3.
