Angry Birds Arrives On The PlayStation Network

The first console-specific downloadable platform to be graced by Rovio Mobile's popular physics-based puzzler Angry Birds is… PlayStation Minis? Weird.

In this week's PS Blog "The Drop" column for Jan. 3, Angry Birds was surprisingly announced for an imminent release on PS3 and PSP Minis. It hit yesterday afternoon for $3.99--about three bucks more than the iOS version, and $3.99 more than it is on Android (where Angry Birds is free, but ad-supported). This particular version of the game is essentially the same one you played before the most recent "Mighty Eagle" update, which added several new levels and the paid DLC bird. Overall, you're getting around 200 levels with this Minis version, which seems fair.

Angry Birds sucks on every platform. I don't get the fascination and I played about half of it on iOS...

I think I played a Java or Flash game exactly like this in like 2004.

Amazed they made it a Mini. I expect a fully 3D PSN/XBLA release is probably on the cards.

if i can i'd rather have back the 1.99 i spent buying this piece of crap "game". the game is nonsense.

Eeeehhhhhh... I paid for it once on the iPhone and I got it for free on my Android. Really no point in getting it again. Unless there's some sort of trophy support.

THIS is Angry Birds?! That's it?! I expected it to be something more, from all the hype I've heard. This is just a variation of those hundreds of flash games that have been around for years. Is this the new PS3 trend? They're going to jam the marketplace full of shitty free flash games, for a price? Meh.

i'm happy with it... currently I'm still using my Berry and haven't gotten an iPad as of yet, so I finally have a way to play the game.  It's a good time waster and would only be classified as overpriced in comparison to other versions of Angry Birds, not compared to Minis.  I'm glad they put it out, even if it isn't the best version - it's good enough for me to mess around with now.

There are better launch games than Angry Birds.

It's not a launch game for PlayStation minis. It's the other way around. The PlayStation minis service is the first console launch platform for Angry Birds. "

The minis have always been pointless since they launched the service with $8 Tetris. 
 
I think the only mini worth paying for is WTF!? 
I hate how Sony throws these in with PS+  and treats them like normal PSN games.

Is the Move supported? It would make sense.

I still don't get the appeal of this game. Have the iOS version, its okay but not good enough to justify its success. Why isn't a Doodle Jump movie in the works? Now THATS a game.

Expect to see this game for $15 on the xbox , if you think it will be less than 800 you're only fooling yourself. that is unless it goes reight into the indie games section in which case it will probably be decently priced but sell hardly anything.

This has got to be the dumbest thing ever.  I get that they might as well cash in while they're still a hot brand, but cmon.. making a freakin playstation version is the dumbest thing ever, considering that angry birds was designed as a 1 finger input game.  While it was genius / clever for touch devices... using a controller seems just...

I might look into this, but at the moment, I am not so sure how well it will all work out on the PS3 since it was developed for devices that use touch-screens (iPhone/iPad) or for 1-finger input control (stated above).

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the art in this game depressing?

Don't want to play this game on a console... on a portable device like touch screen phones? Hell yes! Even on the PSP it *might* be alright... but meh if people really want their Angry Birds fix that badly that they will play it at home on their console.. as oppose to a real game... I find that kind of strange.
