Another James Bond Game Scheduled for 2011

James Bond 007: Blood Stone wasn't exactly, er, well received, but as Activision remains the exclusive rights holder to the James Bond franchise, the video games keep on comin'. Activision confirmed yet another James Bond game is coming sometime in 2011 during today's quarterly financial call, but said little else.

In May of last year, I reported that Raven Software was working a stealth-based James Bond game, in addition to developing map packs for the Call of Duty franchise. That stealth game was put on hold at the time, but it's certainly possible Activision asked the studio to resume development. I'm looking into it, but can't add anything to the story right now.

There is no James Bond movie scheduled for this year, either. Director Sam Mendes is attached to what's tentatively called Bond 23, but only recently resolved bankruptcy issues at MGM delayed production. Bond 23 is not expected to arrive until November 2012, meaning the game would be an original story.

The last few Bond games have been pretty generic, that's for sure. But I wouldn't go as far as to call them crappy. I'm always optimistic when it comes to Bond games.

If this game bombs and Raven is making it. I expect that there the next Activision studio to get shut down.

I wish they would make a solid game, because this is a cool property they should do some cool with!! riveting.

Everything or Nothing was the last Bond game I cared about. Even then, I wouldn't say it was spectacular.

To be honest the last James Bond game wasn't that bad,  yes it had some combat issues, but could prevail depending on your skill. And yes the driving sequences were shameful especially as it was the same dev as Blur.. On a last note a pure James Bond stealth game could work, relying on splinter cell combat perhaps, with some heavy action which is what James Bond is all about aka putting some COD intense action or something could work. So a modern Golden eye meets tommrow never dies type of James Bond would be nice I think...  

James Bond original story could be a good thing.  

I am mildly interested if Raven Software is doing it. Their games are rarely amazing but they are always solid.

welp, Raven had a good run.

It will be a cover based third person shooter staring Daniel Craig, the ugliest Bond ever.

I plan on picking up Blood Stone when it is in the $10, still love Bond despite the medicre games.

good there is no movie coming soon. so in theory they could take there time and make a good game... Bond sadly has not had the best track record for video games. even when they've taken there time in the past we sill end up shit... i want a some what slow paced RPG kind of James Bond game damn it. 

I really liked Goldeneye Wii (hell, I liked it more than Black Ops), so I'm all for this. Keep em coming.

I was just playing GoldenEye Wii today. I really want another good Bond game. Maybe have a bit more stealth? Espionage work? That would be cool.

Meh Activision can screw itself.

Blood Stone was by no means a stand out game, but it was like a Bond movie.....I actually got the feeling of being Bond while I played it and Bizarre did a pretty good job with it. It was a fun game.

I guess they're using the franchise to kill off any studio's they think are under preforming, since they're too obsessed with their games all selling millions upon millions of copies.

Ugh the Bond "original stories" are pretty bad. I'd much rather it be part of the amazing Daniel Craig Bond movies. Quantum of Solace managed to be better than average because it was based off the Casino Royale/ QOS movies.
Bloodstone 007 just felt..bland. I mean, I truly love that I got to play as Daniel Craig, he's my favorite actor ever. But it can't help how repetitive and MEH the game felt. It had this horrible way of making its environments just feel fake.

Can't say i'm too excited about this. I am however super excited about the movie.

I guess this is another franchise that Activision has a "licence to kill"  due too frequent and  rushed out releases..... YAY! ;)

Can't Activision just make a goofy Bond game like From Russia with Love instead of another baby's first cover based third person shooter with a flip of a coin on whether shitty vehicle sections are included.

Since Bond 23 is going to feature 40 million worth of product placement, I wonder if Activision will load up Raven's game with in-game ads too. Seems like something Kotick would approve of;)

But Raven is a good, underrated studio. So hopefully this'll turn out to be a'ight. Singularity was pretty good. Wolfenstein was okay (damn WWII game fatigue though). Quake IV was solid...if not completely not what a bunch of people wanted Quake IV to be (really just looked like Doom 3 Part II - I mean, where were the heavy-metal-meets-Satan-aesthetic from the first and third game? Did we really need another generic sci fi shooter?). I like Raven though, and keep hoping they'll do a game that's triple-A. It's been a loooong time since Jedi Knight II....

Guys come on! Its games like this that stop Activision re-branding itself "Call of Duty Map Packs."

Raven software always pulls me in with it's logos. And their games aren't bad too.

I'll start protesting against Bond games once he reveals how he has remained in his late 30's for well over 50 years now.

Raven's made some good stuff.  That Wolverine game was a little shallow but the first 2-3 hours are pretty fun.  And Singularity, I think Singularity is totally underrated.

No matter how many Bond games that they release, I still don't care.  Does Activision think that if they release enough of them, more people will care? I suppose some people have an idiot boner for mediocre Bond games, but I can't see that number being very high.
