Assassin's Creed III Coming October 30

The "three years" in the making sequel will arrive this fall.

With Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations existing as something close to, but not quite fully proper sequels in the Assassin's Creed lineage, many have been wringing their hands in rapt anticipation over when, precisely, they would get their hands on something Assassin's Creed related with the word "three" in it, possibly represented by some kind of numeric character, either modern or using old timey Roman numerals. Now, Ubisoft has seen fit to tell you.

We don't know who you'll be playing as in Assassin's Creed III, but it stands to reason whoever it is will be like, "Uh uh uh uh uh" at some point.

It turns out you'll be getting your grubby, stabby hands on Assassin's Creed III (Hah! Roman numerals! I was right!) on October 30, 2012.

The news came via Ubisoft's regularly scheduled investors call this morning, where Ubi boss Yves Guillemot proclaimed both that "Assassin's Creed III is the true next generation of both the Assassin's Creed brand and interactive entertainment/storytelling in general," and that it would be "the biggest launch in Ubisoft history."

Little is known about the plot of the next official sequel in the series, save but for the acknowledgment that it will revolve around adventures not featuring either Ezio nor Altair as the protagonist. Instead, a mysterious new assassin will enter the fray, presumably to tie up the story arc into a nice, neat trilogy, because that's just how things are done these days.

I'll just go ahead and call it that this will be the game where you play exclusively as Desmond. That could be a thing, right?

Always pumped for an Assassins Creed game. Excited to see where they take us and who we play as.

I still have to play through 2, Brotherhood and Revelations.

I wonder if they will end the trilogy with a trilogy.....

Still havent finished Revelations, every since I got FIFA I havent en touched it, guess ill have to finish it before October 30th

No more Ezio thank God. If anything thats a huge leap for me. I always assumed the AC series would be a new ancestor/setting per game and that was going great until they got hung up on Ezio. This was especially grating for me as I didn't like him as a character and I didn't like the setting or outfits.

Good, they're beating their December 21st, 2012 date. That game would be goofy as FUCK if it were coming out after that.

Call of Creed, Stabby Stabby instead of Shooty Shooty. Also only sells really well instead of insanely well.

I'm just gunna remind everyone that, as far as I remember, they originally officially stated that at least one of the Assassin's Creed trilogy would be set entirely in the future.

So you may not be that far off Alex :P

They are going to have to change core elements, and really try to revamp the series to get me to care about it. Simply adding more stuff, isn't going to do it for me.

I lost interest in Brotherhood about half way through and haven't even thought about playing Revelations. I hope that this iteration will renew my interest in the series (I really enjoyed the first two games).

2 and Brotherhood are worthwhile, Revelations and (I suspect) 3 aren't.

Assassins creed looses its THING if it doesent keep doing historic periods. I would expect more of the game being in 2012 but not all of it.

Brotherhood was already a step down from 2 in my opinion and I didn't get to play Revelations yet. Actually, I'm pretty burned out on AC.

Posted by CharAznable

Ok, I'm on board for another one. I just finished Revelations a month ago, though, so I'll have to pick up the new one later when it drops in price. I need a bit of a breather.

I'd be happy with an all-Desmond game. He explicitly says that he knows what he needs to do now, at the end of Revelations.

yup. Assassin's Creed III-2 and -3

can't wait.

I'd like to see more real world Desmond stuff, but I think the in Animus field trip through ancient assassins is the strongest point of the series.

Posted by Zaccheus

I'm very interested to see what they are going to do.

@deskp: A screwdriver will fix that right up.

I hope Ubisoft does something special for this entry. I'm of the belief that they need to do something special if they want the series to stay relevant. I'm not exactly sure what I mean by that but, after loving the shit out of the last two games, I was pretty underwhelmed by Revelations. I truly hope that this is the last Assassin's Creed of this generation.

Posted by binhoker

So that's a thing.

Posted by mustachioeugene

I loved Brotherhood, skipped Revelations but might pick it up once it's in the $20 range.

Obligatory Assassin's Creed sequel joke; I can't wait for AC3: Brotherhood 2 and Assassin's Creed 3 Final Mix+

Posted by Lazyaza

Brotherhood wasn't anywhere near as good as 2 and Revelations felt like a giant waste of money for me. I really hope 3 has been getting whatever attention the previous two games weren't.

This alone makes me more interested than anything. Damn did Ezio annoy the shit out of me and I haven't even picked up Revelations yet.

Fine... Here is my money.

Posted by JJOR64

Looks like I need to get around to Assassin's Creed Revelations sometime soon.

Posted by Pop

haven't finished brotherhood and know very little about revelations good thing I have time to finish them, hope AC III will be as crazy as AC 1 to AC 2 was.

Posted by Shinmaru007

Can't wait for Assassin's Creed VII: Adrian's Revenge.

Seriously, though, I actually need to play these games ...

Posted by Winternet

Assassins's Creed III - Episode 1 also confirmed for 29/10/2013

Joking aside, I'm excited for this. So much invested in the AC franchise, that it would be nice to have a big awesome game to close it.

Posted by PLWolf

You always get my money, Ubisoft. I loves me some stabby adventuring.

Posted by carlfoster91

I dropped off the series aft the first game, but if they made it a female assassin from China, I would be veeeery interested.

Posted by laserbolts

I think i'm sort of burned out on the series. I have played every one of the games and I think that I dont want any more assassin's creed. I'll wait until e3 and see some sort of video or something before I even consider getting excited for this.

Yay I like Assassin's Creed.

Finally! Been looking forward to this! enough with the 2.X's!

Wow November...

@Evil_Alaska: Although he is definitely a lot better in Revelations that whole game is so completely forgettable you might as well just look up the ending on YouTube and save yourself some money. Literally the ending is the only element of any importance here. The big reveal about Altairs life can be summed up in two sentences. Ezio really doesn't go anywhere. Desmond doesn't go anywhere. The whole game seems like a realllly drawn out DLC pack.

Posted by thdemn

I really hope this is the game where Desmond takes the forefront. Its time.

Posted by Ronald

Maybe you'll play as Desmond but when you reach a city he'll have a flashback to an ancestor, which will guide him to where he needs to go.

Posted by MookieFL

I'm not sure if I'm in the minority here or not, but an ACIII with all Desmond holds almost no interest for me. However, I could play other ancestors in other settings every year forever.

Posted by Shun_Akiyama

Ubisoft said a while ago that Desmond will never have a whole game to himself.

It's going to be the 1930's, you'll be mob hitman Jimmie Two Knives

Posted by Cross

Yeah, it'll launch in October, FOR CONSOLES. If Ubisoft is anything like history portrays them, the PC version will be at least 2 months delayed and will noy be playable fifty per cent of the time anyway due to the god damn DRM.

Revelations as a a decent/ok game but 2 and BRO were better. I hope they gimp the world and the powers the assassins have. It was just too much unnecessary mechanics and devises.

Posted by LoktarOgar

Usually these games are released on my birthday. It's two weeks early!

Posted by Scodiac

I'm still playing Revelations and I'm enjoying it. I just don't get sick of Assassin's Creed. I always want to get better at the combat. I constantly have a craving to pull off something even more amazing and bad ass than the last thing I did. It's so satisfying to just nail a perfect sequence of events in AC that is actually very entertaining to watch let alone play.

I do hope to see significant change in AC III just to bring some freshness to the series. It's one of the rare titles that will get me to the store day one to buy it.
