Atari Announces Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale For Spring 2011

Not a great first impression, but we'll see after throwing some game length and price numbers out there.

The Forgotten Realms Campaign always had the better luck when it came to video game adaptations versus the more general mythos of Dungeons and Dragons in recent history. Oh well I'll keep my eyes pealed for this if the details sound more promising.

I'd like to see another Demon Stone, but better. Maybe this is it.

A Diablo clone with more class customization would be pretty cool.

Incredibly bad soundtrack.

it doesn't look too bad if they support it post launch. Being downloadable makes this more appealing to me if they charge the right price.

Why doesn't someone just make a NWN style game using 4th ed rules.  The 4th ed rules are so cleanly designed that they would actually translate well to video games.
 
Wizards has put significant effort in the last few years making the rules of their two cash cows work cleanly enough for video games, I wonder why all we've got is that downloadable Magic game.

I want hardcore tabletop simulation, no like I mean literally simulating a dungeons and dragons game hopefully complete with smellovision

I really like how Bedlam is making this. Glad to hear try haven't shut down. They did a lot of work on Scratch and it kinda went nowhere. If this was Activison they would likely be dissolved.

Looks neat. I'm not aware of much in the way of co-op like this. Especially non-iso 3rd person hack and slash.

Somebody get to Bedlam's offices, kidnap one of them, and not the fucker go until you figure out what the fuck is going on with Scratch.

I wonder if this is just a downloadable console game using the Stormreach engine. 
 
My understanding is that's a multiplayer instanced online game...I haven't played it, I guess it's free now?  Maybe I should check it out?

not the kind of dnd i was looking for.

i enjoyed the Dark Alliance games so if they can nail that, great for them. But part of me thinks they are just trying to get this out the door. The last D&D licensed game was back in 2006 with Neverwinter Nights 2 and Hasbro has been demanding that they get the license back from Atari. So why not just slap something together quickly to show Hasbro that they still are using the license. May not be a great game but it is a game.

Maybe I'm expecting too much for a "downloadable title", but I hope it does the D&D system justice and has GM options.

Looks about as bad as a trailer can look.

Daggerdale sounds like a toothless old prospector who threatens trespassers with a small pocket knife.

Thats a really bad name

Given how many skeletons I've killed in D&D games in the past, I sure hope this one has a wider variety of enemies than the 2.5 (flaming skeletons, while cool, are still skeletons) that I saw in this.
