Borderlands 2 Is Officially a Thing

Day 1 purchase, but this time I'm avoiding the $DLC. Gearbox should have be ashamed for thinking they could get away with SONYSecurom bullshit.

It's kinda funny that yesterday, Randy Pitchford said on his Twitter account that he had always stated "more would be done with Borderlands". I thought he meant more DLC content for the first one. I'm more than psyched about a second game, though!

Borderlands ranks as one of my favourite games of the last decade, and this includes ample amounts of playtime in cooperative with me little brother, or just playing it by myself. The added flexibility of storming through the game solo like 9 hours at a time was great, instead of waiting on lesser open schedules of other players. Plus I gots all the stuff! 
 
Even if Borderlands was so specced to be a four player game, it still inadvertently made for a brilliant solo experience on its shooting and loot whoring alone.

This makes me so happy, i still play borderlands on a pretty regular basis

The only problem with the original now, is that the online is insanely busted. If you join a group online you're likely to end up with about 100 active missions popping up in your list, which makes it super confusing on what the main plot thread is. Which wouldn't normally be a problem, but the thing is that the missions are like all throughout the game, in all kinds of locations, way ahead of where you are, or can even access.

It's fine if you're cool with using it to game the system and get max ammo, money, and jump levels like crazy though if you want. Just don't bring a single player character out there.

Seeing a dead T.K. Baja hanging by his foot from a ceiling fan, while also sitting in a chair talking randomly just outside is hilarious though.

Idk 3 games from gearbox in 2012 seems like a big load. I hope the quality doesn't suffer

Sure okay. I was never much into Borderlands since it was kind of depressing to play, but I'm up for a sequel if it becomes more interesting to me.

Should've been called Borderworlds.

They recently acquired a lot of new manpower, so they might be up to the task.

I'm not buying this game if the story is as terribad as the first one. 
 
Don't get me wrong - Borderlands had cool, unique graphics, nice variation in guns, excellent sound design, and decent (co-op) gameplay... but an absolutely horrid story ruined the original. 

Oh awesome! I got confused, cause I was really expecting this announcement at E3. Better late than never! And after having just replayed the original during the Steam summer sale, I'm more excited than ever to be getting more Borderlands.

I will get this. I hope they'll make Borderworlds. I want multiple worlds to explore!

From the image I can see we might get some city areas (or a long road area), grassy plains and snowy mountains. There are new robots, possibly the new Claptraps. There are new vehicles, some of which we might get to use - a flying vehicle and walker vehicle.

Then there is a creature on top of what might be a mining drill (reminded me of the Thumper from Firefall) - the creature might be a hint of a new mysterious enemy. These drills seem to be all over the snowy area. The large structure in the sky might be some kind of an Overseer structure (AI?). I can only hope that this is a space station players will play within, possibly taking players to another planet.

Oh, and Borderlands 2 also seems to feature weather changes, or at least diffirent weather in diffirent locations.

Meh, I don't understand why there's much love for this game. I played through it but I found it to be boring. And yes I did play with others as well.

No motherfucking Gamespy on the PC version please. I see that piece of shit on a game and it's safe to say I'm not touching the multiplayer. Oh and a UI for the PC that wasn't designed by a retarded monkey.

Well I don't have others to play it with, so what's wrong with me wanting them to improve the experience for single player? I didn't think playing solo was fine and it was immensely boring. If developers will let players play single player, then they also need to take the time to make sure that their game is fun in that mode. If they don't want to support it, then they should just disable all players from playing single player.

Man counter strike sucks, the bots are just duuuumb as hell.

Both games have an obvious focus on the multiplayer. But what exactly was boring about Borderlands' singleplayer anyway? I did a solo playthrough and it went just fine.

Well, I'm less adamant about Gamespy on the PC, but just... give the PC version some more love. PC-specific UI, no navigating menus with keys. Better tooltips, etc.

Is this Borderlands going Mass Effect on your ass yet maintaining all the goodies of the 1st one?

I never thought I'd say this...but Gamebomb.ru broke this story before Giant Bomb. I was glancing at the site through Google Translate just to see what it was about when I spotted the story, which I immediately assumed they had just made up. What is the world coming to!

I like that they're trying to deliver a better story. Borderlands is a great game but had a terrible story and an even worse ending.

I put over 300 hours in Borderlands across multi-player and single player, I will gladly give more days of my life to a sequel.

I put hundreds of hours into Borderlands, still have to beat the last 2 dlc packs, I will be getting this day 1.

I wish every headline written by Alex contained the word "thing."
