i thinks this video describes better what the new Halo 3 experience will bring, i think the expansion pack will take place in Halo 2, after Master Chief goes, watch the teaser, and Halo 2 cutscenes in Youtube, it all adds up, well, thats what i think. And then, theres the video that JeffG posted reveiling the secrets behind the teaser =P

This video isn't a new game, rather an expansion, most likely for the Halo 3 campaign. Why, you ask? check out X3F's analysis, plus my friend Bennyishere has a good explanation for this himself too.

It's an expansion, hence the Halo 3 title being showed several times. Also, it implies that something is going down on January 6th, which seems a bit too fast for a new game. In the trailer, the last pod lands after the destruction, which is probably the classic entré by Master Chief. Also, if you complete Halo 3 on Legendary there's an extra cutscene where Master Chief gets into a stasis pod on a ship, making this a natural continuation.

Tomorrow I will have a chance to play Halo 1 and Halo 2 for the first time.  So...  my theory is the coming game will be something I won't be playing for a long, long time to come.  Oh, horrors.

I guess an expansion could be pretty sweet, but if Microsoft goes crazy with the pricing, I'm not supporting it.

I think it will be the Halo GRAW style game where you'll play as a pelican squad captain or something and ya that's what I think.I don't think bungie would do countdowns and intentional hints and all that stuff for a single player expansion.Plus you people keep forgeting Bungie is one of those companies that like to screw with their fans heads,just like Kojima,so I wouldn't take that January 2009 thing too seriously,especially the people who say THEY KNOW IT'S RELEASE DATE.It would be awesome if it was that soon but chances are it won't be.

Very vague teaser indeed, the only thing that came throw my mind was :"Maybe that's Master Chief in the Pod?" then again anything is possible, maybe Bungie wants to fill in some gaps between Halo 2 and Halo 3 but i really can't see how this will be Halo 2 related since they specifically said "Halo 3 campaign experience " , oh well, lets just wait and see.

You can clearly see Masters chief in a drop-pod at the end of that, I for 1, am extremely excited about this expansion pack, and I hope they do some really crazy things in it.

When they say "prepare to drop" could they mean drop halo 3 and pick up this new game?

I think it's great if we end up seeing some levels on Earth. That was a VOID in both Halo 2 and 3. As I recall, the best stages in those games were the ones on Earth.

Its obviously the tale of what happens between the end of halo 3 and the time they make the jump inside the city and what happend on earth at that time.

I can pretty much say I am excited.

Halo 3 on Mac, you heard it here first.

Well its good to see their gunna put out more. If they go to an episodic release method I would be extatic. I loved the way valve did it, and Bungie makes good games. If their current project is the same I'll be happy. So who knows, maybe Halo 4 is being made, just in increments =)

My god, have you never heard of a gorramn teaser?? Seriously. People need to stop whining about teasers. Because thats all they are, teasers. They are meant to HYPE the actual release of actual information. And this is bungie. They love to tease.

I hate people like you. Not really, but still, that was an ignorant statement. It has as good as been confirmed that it is some form of addition to Halo 3 by Microsoft them selves.

"Prepare to drop" in my eyes is the only thing you really need to consider watching this, it being an obvious confirmation that this is some kind of expansion where you play as an ODST, which according to rumors, is a third-person squad game. I'm looking forward to how this will turn out, especially since the trailer takes place some time during Halo 2.

i think its about the ODST " Hell Jumper" the guys who are in black armor that sorta looks like spartan armor.  They enter the combat zone in those drops pods.

I could be wrong... but im going out on a limb to say its a brand new game. And Bungie, really wants to differentiate themselves from the Halo franchise. Isnt that what they were trying to do after they left Microsoft?

Wow, what an insightful trailer. Here's a tip......

Blizzard's opening page graphic that evolved over a few days got me interested in what they were going to reveal at BlizCon. Bungie / Microsoft or whoever is in charge of PR for the Halo IP nowadays has always given teasers that lead to other teasers. If by some miracle you happen to be one of the 3 people who go back and research the videos and countdown timers frame by frame then I'm sure this video does have a "ton of information". Also, by being a developer of course you'll see the information found in the video. If you've been working on the game for a few years now, you'll watch it and say look there's the location, there's the pods that contain ______ etc. However, if you're the target audience of this video and by making this they want to stir up Halo 3 excitement in the general population then this is nothing more than a 'the-princess-is-in-another-castle' setup to be found here.

All new know its that its an expansion and this happens right after Prophet or Regret makes a jump in New Mombasa.

methinks the God of War 3 teaser trailer from E3 was better than this...not to mention the fact that teaser trailers tend to suck in general.

To all the people that are saying things like this, ITS A TEASER TRAILOR. Its not suppose to give you a lot of details, look at any teaser trailor for any game. The point of a teaser is to give you just enough information to get you excited/interested in the game."

Agreed, except for the part where you typo "trailer". 

Personally, I'm surprised it isn't a teaser for the level editor they're going to be adding. Seems like it'd be more interesting than whatever this could turn out to be.

it's takes place in New Mombasa and it's being destroyed. Obviously this is right after Metropolis of Halo 2.  So I'd have to say, since you see it, you're playing form an alternative view, perhaps a marine from Halo 2-3 (overlapping the two).  So yea, this is basically Halo 2.5, in a good way.  There is tons of info in here though, lots of cryptic stuff.  Just the flasing of stuff should tell you this.
