Burnout Paradise: Cars 'n' Shirts

Criterion opens a merchandise store and shows off the rest of its upcoming DLC homage to great cars from TV and film.

Criterion posted up some new details and shots of the rest of the Legendary Cars pack for Burnout Paradise. The team previously revealed the Jansen 88 Special, an obvious homage to the Delorean from Back to the Future. This led people to wonder if the other three cars would be similarly inspired. Well... yeah, they are.

The Hunter Manhattan Spirit is, essentially, Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters. The Carson Nighthawk has a decidedly KITT-like look to it, and the Hunter Cavalry Bootlegger is a Mexican-themed take on the General Lee. As noted on the Criterion blog, the car is "also available in orange." Additionally, the Bootlegger will have a horn--which will probably make it the only car in Burnout Paradise to sound off. Perfect for big jumps, I'm guessing. [ED NOTE: I will bet cash money that horn plays "La Cucaracha." -Ryan]
In addition to the new rides, the company opened up a merchandise store on one of those "send us your art, we'll put it on everything" stores. I'm way into the Paradise Petroleum shirt, as well as the Super Jump logo. Pretty cool stuff. But for the record, we recommend sticking to genuine Giant Bomb merchandise. Accept no substitutes!

No confederate flag on the General Lee? Lame!
Is this one of the free packs?

That Kitt looks ok, but nowhere near close enough to the original. I'm disappointed.

A General Lee knockoff?  Yeehaw!  Them boys in Paradise got themselves in a mess o' trouble.  Like ants in molasses - and that's pretty thick molasses!

KITT Carson. Those guys... so clever.

Ecto-1!!!!!!!!!!! This is awesome, excellent use of DLC.

At least with the Carson Nighthawk, it will make sense that there isn't a driver.

If I played Burnout Paradise, I would be all over this shit. How over? All over. I really should get that game one of these days...

Those cars look awesome, can't wait for this DLC to be released.

As for the Giantbomb Merchandise, are we gonna see some XXXL shirts anytime soon or are the XXLs pretty damn big?

Oh please have a Flux Capacitor mode, take that shit to the future. *Imagining Burnout in the skies*, It would be fucking awesome.

Wow, all of those cars are sweet. I am going to get this pack.

You can already make the General Lee and K.I.T.T. with the Vinyl Editor on Midnight Club: Los Angeles without paying for this DLC.

It'd be awesome when you boost with the Kitt if the flap come out a la turbo boost mode.

The kitt lookalike is better than the "new Kitt ", that mustang is a monstrosity that reminds me of 'Corvette Summer' !

If there's something strange
in your neighborhood
Who ya gonna call?
GHOSTBUSTERS

The new kitt mustang is damn ugly there is only one.

But ya anybody could make a better kitt than the damn mustang kitt with out even trying.  So ya the burnout one looks better than the new lame remake on tv.

Next I want a game with choppers to throw me some airwolf action.

Or better just make a new game that is good and would make you feel like you are flying the thing. The nes game sucked the genesis game also sucked but sucked less.

Hell why don't  Criterion just buy up the rights and make a Good Knight rider game using the burnout paradise engine where you chase down bad dudes  in an open city and run the off the road with an amazing crash that is pretty much what Kitt did in night rider.  Hell that is what some of the races in burnout have you do ram guys off the road it is perfect.

it will most likey sell big and there the only ones that could do the crashes from the shows justice.

I am finally going to pick this game up. It's more affordable now, and I can't remember seeing a developer stand behind their product this well since StarCraft. They deserve the sales.

You know what would have been awesome? The Tumbler from Batman Begins/Dark Knight.

I gotta get my hands on a credit card so I can get this stuff. i just need to know how much they're going to charge for them, there's nothing on the Criterion website yet. Just the same pics that are here.

Get a points card for XBL or a card for PSN. They sell them at retailers now.

All of these cars look great. Hopefully Criterion doesn't put a hole in our wallet for this pack; at least not a big one!

Yeah, somehow I still don't own Burnout Paradise. It gets harder and harder to rationalize that decision.

Holy crap two of my favorite movies' cars are going to be in the game. This solidifies my choice for game of the year.

Posted by DukeTogo

It's pretty bad when the final thing to get people to buy your excellent driving game is a bunch of lame Hollywood cars.

Criterion just died a little inside.
