Burnout Paradise Ready For An Island Summer

Criterion has posted up a quick trailer for what's sure to be the biggest post-release update for Burnout Paradise yet, Big Surf Island.

The previous updates have been neat, but I'm really looking forward to getting some new things to jump over. Also, and I know some form of this sentence ends up in every story we write about Burnout Paradise, I can't believe Criterion is still supporting this game with all this cool stuff.

I'm definitely getting this. I still enjoy BO Paradise, and a brand new island is just going to make me enjoy it even longer.

Bout time! I love me some expansive add-ons! And I agree, it's awesome that Criterion is still pumping out content and keeping fans interested and satisfied.

I didn't get Cops and Robbers (or any of the other paid DLC), but I'll definitely be getting this.

BP got boring for me after 20 hours, and I haven't paid for any extra content.

YES! Looks really good. And we finally have a concrete release date. The only thing left to wonder is what the additional cars will be, and the price point...

... I need to buy some of the premium stuff.

The folks over at Criterion are ridiculously awesome.

The Achievements/Trophies are out for this already, it looks like it has a heck of a lot of content, something like 1/4 of the full game.

Sweet, more Burnout. As soon as I stop playing the game, more stuff comes out to pull me back in.

Gotta love Criterion Games, they just keep this game going. I seem to come back to it every month or so when they add new content or just want to have some fun.

I wonder what it'd be like to start in with the full package.  I wouldn't mind being a bit overwhelmed by the options, but how much would that cost, all told?

BP is great, have some of the new DLC, but this looks like a definite buy.

Would you consider Burnout to be EA's flagship racing franchise now?

I figure the main reason for of all this heavy support (a lot of it free, or at least a generous price), has to be to try and usurp NFS's position, with an eye on reaping the rewards further down the line.  Any thoughts?

Looks like a amped up version of TrackMania......which is a very good thing. Hope it's not too expensive.

What's NFS?

Just kidding.  Seriously, there hasnt been a decent NFS since Most Wanted, imho.  Burnout is a blast to play, pure and simple.

are they going to release a disc with all the DLC already on it?  haven't picked up this game yet, and wonder if an Oblivion GOTY style disc will show up by the time I finally get to it.

they could have made Burnout Paradise 2 by now with holographic spaceships that pop out of your TV and give you a blow job but instead all they do is mess with Burnout Paradise 1 DLC.

then again, after playin the Tiger Woods 10 demo and realizing its the exact same game as Tiger Woods 09 but with a $60 price tag, i guess i can't blame Criterion for being realistic.

More DLC?

This just keeps getting better and better.

Now I can't see a reason to pass up on this one. I love Burnout Paradise even to this day, and I would love to play it with even more content. Thank you very much, Criterion.

These guys make some of the best trailers for what they put out and what they put out is also awesome.  Keep it up Criterion!!!!!

I wish Rockstar would show GTA this kind of dedication. Personally I never could get into Paradise. Which is weird because I love both open world games and Burnout.

I hope it's free of charge. I'd hate to waste 800 MS points on something I'm never going to use.

Looks amazing. Any idea on a price?

@MannAlive: They already have, it's called Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box.
Oddly enough I can't find The Ultimate Box, I just picked up the $19.99 version of the game today and it still seems like enough game for me at the moment. But I was amazed at how much content Criterion has put out for the game, and was confused as hell as why my PS3 took an hour an half to download the patch for it till I seen how much they put into their FREE updates. So many developers could learn a thing or two from these guys and the devotion they put into their game and it's fanbase.
