Capcom Confirms Phoenix Wright Movie From...Takashi Miike?

LOVE Phoenix Wright and Miike!! This is AWESOME news because that means we'll have some really ultra crazy twisted and intricate murders to solve! I don't get why people don't see why his violent filmography makes him a natural fit. So at least in terms of plot and cinematography we're likely to see some real creativity, and I couldn't be happier.

Definitely really cool news. 13 Assassins was fucking awesome, not because of the violence in it, but because it was well built up to that point and it just made it better in the end. 
 
He can be hit or miss sometimes, but I'm not so familiar with the series (only played half of one) but it seems like he could make it work and it would be a pretty great movie.

Takashi Miike is easily my favorite director so this is just about the most exciting goddamn thing I can imagine. Anyone that doesn't know Takashi Miike should watch Visitor Q or Happiness of the Katakuris. Also, Dead or Alive has the best beginning and ending of any movie I have ever seen.

I have watched a ton of Asian cinema and if any country can make an awesome Phoenix Wright game it is the Japanese.

It took me about 6 sittings to actually get through Ichi.  The tempura fried yakuza scene gave me nightmares.  (If you've seen it, you know what I mean.)           

That movie is incredibly funny, I don't know why the slapstick comic-book violence would be legitimately disturbing to people. Now, Audition, that movie was f'd up.

I believe he is fully capable of making a great film out of this. Just because he's made some violent films, does not mean this one will be violent too.

As much as it is seems like an odd choice, there's also something about Miike directing that feels kinda perfect. I just can't explain why...

Hmm... This sounds promising. Miike's weird dark humor mixed with Phonix Wright seems like a perfect match.

So I guess we can count on an awful cameo by Quentin Tarentino.

Dudeglove took the words out of my mouth as far as the director goes. Still, with the episodic or even story arc format the series normally goes for you would think Capcom would try to milk a manga and/or anime for this. Then again the series is popular enough that it even got it's own orchestra show and cd a couple of times in japan so this isn't probably that far off.

How was the Yakuza movie that he directed a few years back? Like many others have said, guy has mad range when it comes to genre and style. Just here in the west he's known better for his controversial features.

It should be noted that Mike's past few films have been family friendly affairs.

Nice, I'd like to see more Pheonix Wright on the iPod.  I know it was only a DS port but I loved every minute of it.  Give me more Capcom!

It's a musical from Japan based on Phoenix Wright. And b4 you all ask, yes all of the performers are female (the troupe is an all-female one). 
 
This might give you an idea of what it can be like. Tho I don't know if I'd prefer a comedic case or a serious one.

This is either gonna be good, or bad. I vote the former.

Miike put his fingers in every possible genere by now. Hiroki should be good for the role so the movie is looking promising.

I understand that mentioning Ichi the Killer and Audition in a story about Miike makes for good headlines (and it does, seriously, this is exciting news) but it should also be mentioned that Miike has written and directed many family friendly movies such as The Great Yokai War (which is one of my favorites of his (just as parenthesis are one of my favorite tools in grammar)). 
 
Again, extremely excited about this. It will be super entertaining no matter which direction it goes.

Miike made most of his extremely violent and disturbing films at the turn of the millennium.  He's been involved in plenty of diverse projects prior, and since then. I think one of my favourites has to be The Bird People In China.
 
With such range to his name already, I think Miike is the perfect choice.

I love Miike. Gozu is one of my most favorite movies. Hopefully the Ace Attorney flick will have some Visitor Q-style  breast milking and corpse-fucking.

Takashi Miike is perfect for this. Watch Crows Zero and tell me different. No one else could do it.
