Just before Comic-Con, Microsoft and Epic Games unveiled a hip contest that gives fans a vote in the matter of whether a new Carmine will survive his grand Gears 3 adventure. Two different Carmines have bit the dust in the previous Gears releases.
A digital t-shirt purchase on the avatar marketplace is the only way to decide his fate. Those who want Carmine to eat it need to buy a cute "Carmine Must Die" shirt. Those who want him to live, which is the more popular of the two right now, need to buy a subdued "Save Carmine" shirt before the campaign closes on September 2, 2010.
On the official Gears 3 website, Microsoft is calling the race "close," meaning it's still possible to get Carmine's head knocked in proper-like. Regardless of where we fall on the Carmine life/death thing, though, it's important to remember that all the proceeds of this contest will be going to Child's Play, a neat charity that gives sick kids game-related stuff. Who knew a character's death could be so beneficial?
Carmine needs to die, though after his brother got swallowed by a giant worm in the last game, he'll need to step it up if he wants to live up to the family tradition of terribly embarrassing death sequences.

Well I did not know how the race was going, so yeah it is news to me and on a side note it highlights the charity. That is generally what news is, informing people of current affairs / events that they are unaware of. Why don't you RSS feed in the future? You can bypass what you don't deem news.

Well I'm kinda interested in how this will turn out and its a good follow up to Brads previous article. Besides if this reminds more people to by a shirt and Child's Play gets a few more bucks that can't be bad right?
I picture Carmine getting brutally injured. And lives the rest of the game on a stretcher in some hospital. And you just cut to him every once in a while. He moans in pain. Then back to the action.
Shit. This Carmine brother looks like he eats gravel. No way is he allowed to die. You know how there's supposed to be four Carmine brothers? This fella is the last two at the same time.
Also, rule of three, c'mon. Third beat is an inversion of the previous two.
i hope carmine survives, for once. i don't want him to save the day or anything, that would be far too predictable, but i'd love to see him redeem the family name.
