Is Sony taking Jaffe back into the fold - what "peeps" was he talking to about NEXT GEN STUFF? This could be crazy good news!

I don't know how I feel about no planned DLC for Twisted Metal. This could be great, allowing the developer to focus completely on making the game great and then, if the game sells well maybe DLC will be an option. Hmm As for Jaffe leaving, for some reason I don't really care. It's not like he's not making games anymore.

Jaffe is the man. He responded to some of my tweets and seems like a pretty chill dude that just gets a little angry when people take what he says or does out of context which is understandable. Can't wait for Twisted Metal, got that sucker pre-ordered.

I've been expecting this for awhile. Jaffe just lives too far from the studio to keep working with them for too long. I hope he gets a new studio near his house and works on big titles, because I would rather have a God of War or Twisted Metal over another Calling All Cars.

It's mathematical. Jaffe will continue to create studios that are farther and farther away from him, and leave them faster and faster, until he is creating studios at the edge of the observable universe and leaving them in infinitesimally small periods of time. It's how man (or at least game developers) will go to the stars.

Strangely, they still manage to make at least one game.

let him make something new. I got tired after 2 God of War games and with 3 in the main line and 2 spin offs and all being exactly the same game with varying degrees of prettiness, his talents are put to better use making something fresh.

This is the best vote of confidence in an upcoming game ever.

Jaffe seems like he would benefit taking an five year break from making games and becoming an Truck Driver.

So he's going to create a new studio that will partner with Eat Sleep Play, who in turn partners with Sony for its games. It's like the Inception of game development.

Jaffe for God of War 4...make it happen.

There are a lot of small studios here. Cost of living is lower, so they can pay their employees less.

I would have thought if anything a split from ESP would be announced after launch.

He will land on his feet, he always does.

Joking aside, I wish him all the best in his future endeavours. I never really paid attention to his games in the past, but from what I've seen of his vlogs and other appearances he's a really down-to-earth guy who's genuinely passionate about what he does. The industry needs more people like him.

Well, it makes sense that his studio was formed a long ways away from him, but jeez. This is kind of a bummer.
 
He must feel like Netherrealm Studios after they shipped Mortal Kombat. An overwhelming sensation of "Oh shit, what do we do now?".

Kinda saw this coming ever since the podcast he was on. Kinda sounded like his creativity was being hindered because he was pretty much forced to make twisted metal. Not that twisted metal will be bad, looks really good but sounds like he wants more personal and creative work than large scale iterations of previous work.

Jaffe is a gunslinger. His M.O. since day one has been work with a studio, sell it to Sony, make a new studio, sell it to sony, make a new studio.

ALSO, Jaffe is totally a guy who likes GAMES. In listening to him talk, he doesn't like where these "AAA experiences" are going. I can see him getting into mobile to continue making real games.

Sucks, considering I just played the TM demo yesterday and was blown away. Not sure what'll happen with Eat, Sleep, Play, but after Jaffe leaves a studio good things continue to happen there. And, as always, I can't wait to see what he does next. Knowing Jaffe, we'll probably get a straight answer as to what's going on, unless there's some legal restrictions.

I'm not sure why @patrickklepek didn't mention this, but Eat Sleep Play is based out of Utah, and he's in California. He said his main reason for leaving was he missed the whole sort face to face part of development.

@Ghostiet: Like a previous user said, he was working from home and ESP were hundreds of miles away.

I also doubt he's leaving to work on casual games if ESP is going to migrate to casual themselves.

Jaffe is not exactly the easiest person to work with, but eh. The DLC comment also sounds weird, because Twisted Metal could benefit greatly from DLC.

I don't get this guy. I like him, but Christ, why do I feel he'll be back at Sony in the next 2 years with a new company?
