Deux Ex: Human Revolution Hitting in August

Square Enix finally announces a release date.

Retailers beat Square Enix to the punch, but now it’s official-official: the third title in the Deus Ex franchise is hitting North American store shelves on August 23, 2011. Human Revolution, as its called, should also makes its way to the UK and Australia on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26, according to retailers.

Eidos Montreal announced the NA release date just a hair earlier than Square over on the PS blog. The studio also busted out the following three screenshots. Man, this game looks gorgeous:

== TEASER ==Human Revolution was smacked with a postponement earlier in December. Square had to break the news just weeks after unveiling the game’s generous amount of pre-order bonus content and its special Limited Edition bundle dubbed the "Augmented Edition." Just as a recap, since this stuff was announced so long ago, here’s what you can get if you decide to drop the coin on a reservation:

... At GameStop

... And at other participating retailers.

Additionally, if you pay an extra 10 dollars for that Augmented Edition, you’ll get a 40-page art book, a “Making Of” DVD that includes the game’s soundtrack, and a motion graphic novel (whatever that is.) Here’s a huge shot of the entire set, which will have its own Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 versions:

This game has a lot to live up to. The original Deus Ex is still being talked about as if it were one of the greatest games of all time. I guess the good news is that Human Revolution at least looks like it'll be able to hang with its predecessor. We'll have to see!

What do you mean "as if it were one of the greatest games of all time"?
I'm not saying it's the best but it's definitely one of the best, there's no denying that.

@Shadow28: I never really heard of Deux Ex up until now.I have heard Half Life get tossed around a lot along with System Shock.I found Half Life to be pretty good, but I think System Shock actually deserves the merit. As for Deux Ex I don't really know. What did it do that was so good?Besides obviously story.

Seriously though, pretty hyped for this. Cautiously hyped though, as we still know very little about gameplay.

I don't think he meant to imply that it isn't, it's just awkwardly worded.

Intended or not, that's how it comes across.  Either way, just another example of Nicholson's incompetence as a staff writer.

This is still my most anticipated game of the year, so having wait that much longer is kind of depressing, but at least it will give Eidos a chance to finish polishing it up. I want this game to be as good possible.

I am really looking forward to this game, although I'm pretty sure the memory of the first game from when I was younger will not be surpassed.  I'll be realistic about it and see how it goes :)

Also the fact that this information was released quite a bit ago and seems kinda pointless atm?

Why post day old news that anyone who visits a different site/reads the forums already knows, while not adding anything to it?

So much hype. Easily my most anticipated game. After hearing some of the little changes, and how the health regeneration actually works, I cannot fucking wait.

I hope the soundtrack  is similar to what is in some of these trailers.   the black and gold theme and the look of the world, coupled with the music is doing alot to create a mood that I hope is consistant in the game..

Weird pre-order shit particularly the two extra missions is disappointing but expected I guess. I'll probably get this on the PC so they might release them for free later.

That last line is a bit weirdly worded but Deus Ex is often regarded as on of the best PC games of all time. I know the staff here aren't big fans of it and I know that most people dont like the second game (although I never played it) but the first game is highly regarded and from previews this one is shaping up be a worthy successor.

As much as I'm looking forward to this game, I really wish they had just gone ahead, snagged up a GITS license, and given us a fuck-hot Motoko to tool around with in transhumanist glory.

I'll be eagerly waiting for review scores to come out first, though, before I make any decision. Eidos have a.... mixed record.

Yes! If you swapped the characters (well... mostly just Motoko) and story in this game for Ghost in the Shell in this same engine, it would make the greatest cyberpunk game in history.

I mean, we already caught a glimpse of optic camo-ass in the trailer...
