DJ Hero 2: If It Locks Up, Ditch A Friend

Hey there, by now you may have seen our DJ Hero 2Quick Look, where Brad and I "eff it up old-school" on a turntable and a microphone. That was our first experience with the final retail version of the game, and it locked up like three times while we were playing it, usually right at the end of the song. 

  

Good thing I have no friends

I had lock up issues with the first DJ Hero if I played a setlist that was too long - haven't had any trouble in DJH2 yet, once on the main screen it froze but also could have been my console as the Menu button didn't work.

Not going to be an issue for me.  No friends, and I don't play DJ Hero. 
 
I do however, drink a lot.

Or not have many friends. Not an issue for me. The lineup of songs, on the other hand, is grossing me out.

Good thing I don't have any friends or DJ Hero 2. Yes... Hornberger!

if you've got a full list, the whole game explodes! Cool, right?

Don't make excuses; it's still pretty pathetic no one found this during development, and that it happens in the first place.

To be fair, probably because most people don't have 100 friends? QA probably doesn't think to test for it, because who has 100 friends?  The gaming press. That's who. "

It's good if you can get this far. But do the controllers actually work this time?

I REALLY doubt that QA missed that. I work in QA (not for Activision) and this is one of the first thing we test when we get a new game (btw entering 70-75 friend codes on a Wii is not fun lol). 
 
This looks more like a big Microsoft fail. I really can't understand how MS Cert missed that...

Actually, most people I've played with have 100 friends, due to real life friends, tournaments, clans, and the like.  I have just over 80 at the moment, so it's not a totally unheard of thing to have 100 friends. "

Only a problem for 'clebs', like you giantbomb folk ^^

It's always sad when relationships fall apart.  DJ Hero 2 ruins friendships.

j/k, I don't have that many friends.  I actually think the game looks pretty good when it's got moving pictures and stuff.  Not my cup o' tea necessarily, but if I was somewhere and this was there, I'd be interested in getting my hands on it.

When I get it, it'll be for the PS3 anyway, but still. That's a crazy bug to have.
So, are we going to get an updated QL?

This is a weird ass bug.

It's not like this is a big issue anyway, what with the new update that will increase the friend limit to 1000. And I highly doubt anyone will get that many friends any time soon, unless it's GiantBombing.

Pour one out for QA. They don't get much love, but they are key to the entire operation.

Normally, I'd say something snarky and lame about this bug but I kinda feel for DJH2.

Good to see it won't affect the majority of the players, and it will soon be a non-issue. Still unfortunate though.

Hah. Having just taken a break from some programming homework it's probably from a simple out-of-bounds issue with an array. One typo probably left a bug that can only display 99 friends instead of 100. Some zero-count issue, probably.
