DJ Hero 2 In The Mix On October 19

It's an Air Force One!

If you're anxiously waiting for the next opportunity to break out your wheel of steel and get your turntablism on, you'll be happy to know that your wait is almost over. Today at Gamescom, an Activision representative confirmed to Joystiq that DJ Hero 2 will be out on store shelves on October 19 in the US and October 22 in Europe.

There's not a problem DJ Hero can't fix, cause it can do it in the sequel.
There's not a problem DJ Hero can't fix, cause it can do it in the sequel.

If you've already got your hands on an original DJ Hero turntable controller, you can pick up the game on its ownsome for $59.99. However, if DJ Hero 2 marks your first time as a digital DJ (or, I guess, as a fake digital DJ emulation), you can pick up a DJ Hero 2 bundle that ships with both the game and a turntable for $99.99. And if you're looking to use DJ Hero 2 as a jumping-off point to start your own rap-rock group, you can pick up the DJ Hero 2 Party Bundle, which comes with two individual turntable controllers as well as a microphone, providing you everything you need for the game's three-instrument multiplayer mode.

Of course, you may have more of a dilemma than simply deciding which package to purchase; DJ Hero 2 launches just one week before the October 26 release of Rock Band 3. That leaves you guys with an important question; Do you want the game that supports the keytar controller and the real-ass guitar? Or do you want two turntables?

Really interested in this. Seems like they're taking some of the right steps in terms of feature-set. Hopefully the tracklist is more diverse (would like some good electronica).

Given the choice, though, obv. I would take Rock Band 3 no question.

I played a bit of the first DJ Hero today. I have to say, I didn't think it'd be that much fun... but it was kinda awesome. I can see myself buying that for parties, while everyone is having fun and I'm just DJ-ing it up or something.

The final line should have been something related to Beck's two turn tables and a microphone, way to miss that KESSLER!

I picked up DJ Hero last month for cheap, and the game is great.  Really, really fun.  I hate alot of the songs (individually) on the disk, but I love them in mashups (seriously, I can't stand 'holla back girl', but when you mix it with Rick James, it somehow rocks, f'cking alchemy).

I look forward to purchasing the sequel.   I think more people should give this game a shot.

Course, if you've only got so much free cash in October, go with RB3, just sayin.

"keytar controller and the real-ass guitar" is the obvious and correct answer.

The middle button on the controller lets you do this actually.  I bought dj hero 2 weeks ago and the controller is already broken :( "
Oh noooo I just impulse bought DJ Hero a few days ago and now am afraid that it will break on me as well. : (

I would like DJ Hero 2 (and Rock Band 3) but I'm trying to actually save money now so I'll have to pass it up, or at least wait til it gets drastically cheaper.

@Bigandtasty:  From what I've heard, there do not seem to be substantial design revisions to the turntable. This isn't like the Rock Band 1 to Rock Band 2 controller. Basically, no new hardware this time around, other than DJ Hero branded microphones.

Kessler, that is an amazing subtitle, I cracked a huge smile.

Not liking a release so close to Rock Band 3. It's not that I'm torn between which to buy, but as others have pointed out, this will be overlooked due to that.

Which is a shame since DJ Hero is the only thing coming out of Activision that even remotely interests me. I guess throwing this in September would conflict with GH6's release. I agree with Jeff that out of the two franchises, this should be the one attention is given to.

Made me lol. Nice one Kessler.

Wish you had stayed on as an office intern. Now we only have Vinny left...

On topic, I liked the first one and would be happy to play through some more mixes. Hope the 'career' is an improvement though.

Woo! Matt writing those articles!

DJ Hero isn't a bad franchise, just would like to see more innovation.  I think everyone has fatigue of "these games", especially after Rock Band 3.
