Epic Mickey Collector's Edition Is Pretty Messy

Because of the paint splashes. Get it? I'll be here all week.

A snazzy, paint-splashed limited-release collector's edition of Disney Epic Mickey is expected to launch alongside the plain-Jane boxed copy of the game when it hits this winter, according to Disney Interactive Studios.

The $70 bundle will include your usual collector's edition stuff: a behind-the-scenes DVD, a five-inch vinyl figure of the game's protagonist (Mickey Mouse), a copy of the game, and other video promotional materials. Notably, it will also include a Wii remote skin and a two unique Wii console skins. The latter stuff is cute because, in the game, you'll be able to "skin" or change the world with your paint. It's a tie-in!

Speaking about the set, executive VP of Disney Interactive Graham Hopper said, “We’re thrilled to roll out this Collectors’ Edition featuring so many unique items including the collectible Disney Epic Mickey figurine and content that will surprise and delight gamers and Disney fans alike." He noted that this collector's edition will "expand" players' Epic Mickey experience.

Toys R Us leaked this collector's edition prior to its announcement. In the listing, the retailer pegs Epic Mickey for a November 15 release, but Disney is still only saying Winter 2010 for now.

I like it.

eh, saw this on kotaku earlier.

@Jethuty:  I didn't.

meh

Posted by Shibbles

This is pretty much the only reason that I want a Wii. Maybe it's worth it.

Posted by chililili

What's the point on this? I've grown accustomed to getting some useless plastic stuff on these editions so I'm at a loss when we only get skins.

Posted by Flashduck
@chililili:
Useless plastic stuff like that 5 inch figure?
I might get the CE just for that.

Nice box art, but I'll just get the regular version.

Me neither. Because not everybody visits other video game sites.

Am I the only one who finds the design of Mickey a bit creepy?
He just doesn't really look like himself.

Posted by MetalGearSunny

I like the design of the cases and everything, don't know if I'll like the actual game.

Ink, everywhere!

Epic Mickey seems like a horrible name for this game.

That's pretty much my thoughts on Giant Bomb's news coverage in its entirety.

That paint looks like an oil-slick.

And then I inked everywhere.

Good for you.

I do like Bonus Discs (even though I am often let down by them) and I do like Warren Spector. Hmmm.

Why does this have to be on the Wii? Going to got cry now, BRB

Gotta agree with you. While horrible may be too strong a word, I really can't believe that "Epic Mikey" lasted beyond just being a code name for the project.

well maybe you should.

everything brad covers are just reposts of kotaku posts.

I thought I remembered hearing at E3 during the on-stage demo that this was a game releasing in the summer of 2011?  I won't get to it until around then anyway, considering I have to get another Wii after selling mine a few years ago.  Thanks to Kirby, DK, this, and Zelda - I'm back in.  But I still care ten times more about the 3DS than the Wii, even with a decent slew of titles.

We all know that the first site to post an article is, by default, the only one that can.  Everyone after that is just copying.  Or, you know, some of us think Kotaku is crap and like to read our news elsewhere.

Re: the topic at hand, I'm looking forward to the game, but the CE doesn't do much for me.

I'd need an official Epic Mickey car hood and matching bicep tattoo to consider it.

Why should he? Maybe he comes to Giant Bomb for both the staff articles and news about what's happening in the gaming industry.

Just because Kotaku covers it doesn't mean GB shouldn't either.

Hmm, I suppose the behind the scenes disc might be interesting to fans of Warren Spector.

Posted by Claude

That would look cool on Joey Logano's Nascar Nationwide Series car.

I'll just buy the normal game though. I've never bought a collector's edition.

Why bother commenting? Regardless of who breaks the news first (not always Kotaku) every other site will post some form of coverage on the subject, even if it's pretty "common knowledge" elsewhere.

Some people don't like the hostile atmosphere that is accustom to sites like Kotaku and thus, don't visit them. That isn't to say that assholes aren't here either. Some people prefer to come here because it's more humorous and/or less serious. I don't go on Destructoid because I'm sick of Jim Sterling spewing his nonsense. Somehow he is their review editor, thus I don't take any review they write as an informed one.

I'm sure other people have their reasons for not going on one site or another.

I very rarely visit kotaku, but it just bothers me that most of the GB news have become copy paste from other sites.
Posted by Nautilus15

@Santar
well it is designed off of the "old" style of Mickey.  like before DisneyWorld existed and shit

@Jethuty:  Ah, it just seemed as though you were intentionally trying to be a dick to people who have no interest in going elsewhere. No offense.

So? Once again, not everybody visits other sites for news, so it's nice to have the news here.

no offense taken. im all in for news, and i would love for GB to be my only gaming site, but i mostly come here for the crew and the forums. I am not intrested in slow and old copy paste jobs.

If I had a dime for every time I have read this exact sentence, I would have enough money to actually buy all of the Wii games I want.

Posted by Chaoskiller2000

I hope this game is as good as it looks, this might be a game to actually get the collectors edition especially since its not a whole $50 more like a lot of collectors editions now.

Posted by Hyper_Bunny_Meow

That's a pretty sweet collectors edition, shame its only for the Wii but still is a really nice boxset.
Posted by wolf_blitzer85

Wow looks pretty slick.

So why did you read and comment on the article then? It's cool and all that you are ahead of the times and get your news elsewhere, but some of us actually like reading these articles believe it or not. Even if they do tend to be a bit on the slow side.

So yeah not attacking you or anything like that, just wondering why you felt the need to complain about it being on Kotaku first, even if you don't care so much for the news content here.

I suppose it is cool to brag about knowing the breaking news on Epic Mickey before everyone else does though.
Posted by Skytylz
@Shibbles: Galaxy 2 is really good too, I got a wii for that and hopefully this and epic yarn get me a ltitle more out of it.

Even though I don't usually get limited editions, all this needed was a soundtrack disc and I would be sold. Why wouldn't they bundle the soundtrack?

To sell it separately.
