I mean CBS is really stupid if they think we will continue to subscribe to the site just because. A lot of us subscribed to support the independant giantbomb, not the gamespot/cbs/giantbomb.

My sentiments exactly. If anybody would know about the potential pitfalls of making a deal like this that wasn't completely to their satisfaction, it'd be these guys and they've made that abundantly clear. Change can be a pretty great thing. All we need to do on our end is sit back and enjoy the ride. It's gotten us pretty damn far up until now.

Excited, been a GB fan for a long time and I hope this leads to more wacky nonsense! Pour one out for Team Whiskey, though.

exactly, I already cancelled mine.

It wasn't because of the ads, it was because I felt like part of the community, supporting these guys' bullshit by being independent.

Yup, this is the thing that worries me the most. Can't they at least acknowledge that this doesn't sound positive at all to a lot of users. Sure, more funds is nice but it seems so contrary to what I thought Giantbomb is about.

For everyone complaining just take a step back and think. They don't say that they're changing, all of the evidence doesn't point to them changing, and we have no way of knowing if they are changing. So let's just sit back and wait and then make a judgement call objectively.

I'm a little uneasy about the change. What are the ramifications of this? I'm so confused.

Yeah. I thought this was pretty interesting/strange.

I supported WM with 3 yearly subscription specifically because I loved what they did and to help them stay independent.

I commented on chili "monday" that Whiskey Media seemed to be in financial trouble. I'm still not convinced this isn't the case!

And I just dug it up... not really sure how I feel about this. I pay a subscription when I can because I liked the INDEPENDENT nature of the site... now I'm just giving moeny to corporate fat asses who don't deserve the money :/

I must say, I never thought it would happen. I trust them not to fuck it up, but it's sad to see the Giant Bomb/Tested/Screened split.

The Giant Bomb folks have long since earned my trust, so I'm happy for them. Looking forward to what the site has in store next! Excited for Will and Norm, too!

Very happy for the guys, they all seem super excited. As one of the (semi-rare?) Giant Bomb users who never had seething, raging hatred for Gamespot, I think this sounds like a great deal for Jeff and company. I'll miss the regular interaction between Giant Bomb and the other Whiskey sites, but hopefully they'll at least keep in touch -- guest appearances and whatnot.

Super crazy what's happening with Tested and Mythbusters, and can't wait to see how that all turns out. Screened and Anime Vice seem up in the air -- really hope Rorie gets a good deal out of all this, maybe gets some more staff to help him out with Screened, especially with Alex quitting to work full-time with the GB crew. Don't really watch much anime, but I still go to Anime Vice once in a while to read editorials, because I'm a fan on Tom's writing. Very curious what will happen with him in all of this.

In any case, I wish everyone from all the sites good luck in their new endeavors, and I hope everything turns out great for all involved.

I'm still trying to process what the hell is going on. I feel like my parents just told me they were getting a divorce or something.

I guess I'll be cautiously optimistic and trust the duders to know what they're doing.

So my subscription info is now in the hands of the people who bought whiskey. (note: NOT the people who have GB now, the site I was subscribing for) Hell, my sub just renewed. I was paying to support a bunch of awesome indie guys doing good work, now they're going to Gamespot, a site covered in effing Toyota ads.

What a shit day.
