Far Cry 3 Goes From September to December

It’s getting harder and harder to keep track of what games are actually coming out this holiday, and while Far Cry 3 isn’t leaving 2012, Ubisoft is giving the developer a few more months to polish up.

The game’s official Twitter account announced Far Cry 3 would move from its September 4 release date all the way to December 4, a whole three months of additional time.

“A rushed game remains bad forever,” said the company. "Thank you for understanding.”

“To make sure we deliver the best experience possible, the development team has been given more time,” it said in reply to another user.

Can't really argue with that.

This is a bummer, was really looking forward to that game. Oh well guess I can wait till Dishonored.

I might be the only one to say this but, I like it when they push back a game to make sure it's not broken or unfinished.

Yup.

If it is to improve the quality of the game, I'm all for it. And we still have plenty to play from late September to December. Borderlands 2, XCOM, Dishonoured, Assassin's Creed 3, Halo 4. That is plenty for a two month period if you ask me.

Another Summer game pushed back.

Guys, I don't think any games are coming out this year.

3 months still isn't that much in the grand scheme of things.

In all fairness, Ubisoft does always release a game in the first week of December. Although this is the first time I can think of them releasing one of their big titles in that month. Other than PoP 08, I can't think of any that weren't a tie-in to something else
 
EDIT: My bad. The game I thought they published in December 2010 was Tron:Evolution, but that was actually Disney Interactive

I hope they know what they're doing. This really didn't pay off for Prince of Persia, which deserved better. :\

But for people who don't care about games like Halo, COD, Borderlands etc. this is a huge blow :( As for quality it's not even 3 months, it comes out in EU in november and i HIGHLY doubt a 2 month push will improve anything, whatever it is, it would be so small it could be patched day 1 like every other game.

Stop setting shitty faux-release dates, publishers.

Oh my, a December release? How often are big games like this released that late in the year? Usually games avoid coming out that late so they can be considered for GOTY right?

Oh, well. I'm looking forward to it, but unlike everyone else here apparently, my shopping list is still packed! Sleeping Dogs, Darksiders II, Tales of Grace f, Borderlands 2 just from August and September. Then there's RE6, AC3 and Hitman Absolution to follow during Autumn.

My devil's advocate argument the other way is that I don't know if infinite time helps a game either. See DNF.

As much as I'm looking forward to this game, I just finally started playing Castlevania: LoS and Rage so I think it's safe to say "I can wait".

December? That's an unusual release date. Furthermore, is three months really going to make that big of a difference? It seems as if developers are catching on to the whole "More development time=better game" excuse and using it every time a game is pushed back nowadays.

So what IS coming out this holiday?

Cool, just in time for Summer... here in Australia.

I am happy with this. It gives me more time to devote to Borderlands 2.

nice, far cry 3 could be something pretty special with their whole insane plot and charcters, so let them take their timee

I did not know that games that might be highly anticipated, such as Far Cry 3 get released in December. It just seems like a weird release date, because I was always under the opinion that October or November were the best months during the last few months of the year.

Oh well, the extra development time should help us get a polished gem of a game.

Hope this won't get overshadowed by Black Ops 2

To be honest, I'm glad this got delayed. Now I can focus on Borderlands 2 all month.

As long as borderlands 2 doesn't get moved, every other game can get pushed to 2013.

Dont care at this point most games are a rent for me. So whatever Dec july 2014 fine with me!!

It definitely sucks but if we get an even better game than that's fine by me.

Well better that way I still don't know what to choose between XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Dishonored.

damn, i was looking forward to that early september release because it seems like before then, NOTHING is released. oh well, rather have it as polished as possible, i guess.

At least it's not February-March. That seems to be the new holiday season. "Ok everybody! We're moving our game to 2013 to get out of the way of the other big fall releases! Oh wait..."

Um.... which past Farcry game had TITTAYZZZ? Did I miss something?

They should just release it in February 2013. Oh wait, that's EA's month.

Guess I'll have to stick with Quest for Glory 4 for all my pixelated breast groping needs until December.
