Far Cry 4 Is Coming

How is anyone getting a Saints Row vibe out of this. Personally, I can't wait.

I saw the picture, I read the title, and I made it half way through the write up before it hit me, I was reading about Far Cry and not Saint Row. The color of that suite made me so convinced that this was a Saint row game, that I didn't even notice the part about Ubisoft and you know, the fucking name of the game.

so much bitching about this unreleased sequel already. and people who liked 3 ffs. this is why you cant have nice things, nerds.

Dang that looks like a pretty rushed illustration. I'm really hopeful they're more careful with this one, white saviour/colonialist attitudes and all. That said, this image doesn't bode too well.

I can't wait to "equip" animals. I hope they actually mean that.

That illustration seems like it's purposely leaning into that. It seems so blatant to me, that I think they're aware. They'd have to be after Far Cry 3, right? So, hopefully it'll be something that gets touched on thematically in 4.

I hope it has dinosaurs.

It took something like 5 years to get Far Cry 3 and just under 2 years for the next sequel. Seems rushed to me. Hopefully they can expand upon a lot of the gameplay of 3 and really hit it out of the park.

As long as the wingsuit and similar game mechanics are introduced earlier on, and they do right by the story (not trying to just ape Vaas and have another white savior tale) this game should be wonderful. Far Cry 3 was a hell of a game.

This seems like what Saints Row 4 was to SR3. Ubisoft needs to slow the fuck up, this is getting ridiculous. Watchdogs, FC4, and 2 A.C. games all in one year? Activision could learn a thing or two from Ubisoft on how to milk your boring franchises to the utmost.

I wonder when the big 3rd parties will pull the trigger on next-gen only (plus PC of course) titles on a more unanimous basis?

One of the things I really like about the Far Cry series is the individuality of each entry. For all the things you can say about them, you can't say that none of them are generic or bland in the least. Just judging by the art, this seems like it's going to take most of its cues from Far Cry 3, which has me a bit worried.

EDIT: Also, yes, that looks like a rejected member of the Third Street Saints.

Far Cry 3 got delayed a couple times. Hopefully this doesn't. I wish it was developed for next gen only but oh well it will still kick ass if it's anything like Far Cry 3. Also we need to be able to create multiplayer levels with vehicles!

farcry 3 was one of my fave games of all time so this is good news.

lets all just hope that the story is better than the last one.

Yeahhhh... Man, Far Cry 3 had so much going for it, and 80%+ of the time the shit I was having a blast playing it. But the characters and contexts for the missions were draining, so much that I'd be excited to do the next story mission but dread the exposition and general plot development... There was some alright stuff, but it was generally handled pretty poorly. The twists that result in major gameplay enhancements are awesome in action, but the plot justifications are so clumsy and stilted.

I want the protagonist to be purple (Pink?) suit dood. Though I suspect he is this King fellow.

I'm more excited for the inevitable Blood Dragon 2.

Looking forward to it. Also, I guess I'm the only person who actually liked the story to Far Cry 3. I thought it was really fun with some great characters throughout. I thought the game was supposed to be a dark comedy

Yep, I felt exactly the same. All that stuff with Vaas was amazing until he died halfway through and the game was left with Hoyt. Hoyt was cool but certainly no Vaas. Kind of a bummer that a story with so much momentum lost a lot of its steam halfway through, but yeah, like you said, the game was still fantastic overall. I had a ton of fun playing it right to the end, especially the weed burning mission, the German guy, and the wingsuit. All amazing stuff.

It's just too bad they only patched in resetting the enemy camps after I had put down the game long enough that I didn't feel like picking it back up, otherwise I'd probably still be playing it today. I'm confident Far Cry 4 will be even better. I just hope the new guy is as good as Vaas, and I hope they keep their weird first-person perspective that makes NPC characters look bigger and closer than most FPS games.

Lets hope this game's story doesn't take a shit all over itself like the third one did. Also, last gen consoles? FUCK THAT!

Wow, I'm kinda surprised the story of FC3 was disliked, I thought it was a really fun, wild story and was really entertained the whole way through. The world and visuals of that game were spectacular as well. It looks like they're going for a similar sort of thing with this one which is good news for me I guess.

Pro tip: Sharkskin suits not actually made from shark skin.

Not trying to be cynical, as I'm looking forward to this game either way, but that art screams "Hey we heard you guys liked Vaas so how about that again except on a mountain!"

This guy looks less subtle than Baby Panay. I hope they're going for something really silly. Himalaya is a relatively rare setting, so I'm wondering what that will be like. Have no idea what kind of wildlife they have there either.

This is awesome news! I always enjoyed the Far Cry series and have played hundreds of hours combined with all three.

Hopefully Just Cause 3 will officially be revealed at E3, and then my gaming needs this winter will be all set.

The writing in Far Cry 3 was pretty flawed and I couldn't shake the feeling that the writers thought they were dishing out absolute gold. I get the same vibe from the cover art for 4.

Add to that Ubisoft in traditional fashion, getting way out ahead of themselves with DLC announcements for characters we haven't even met yet. It kind of saps any kind of enthusiasm I have for it.

A little disappointing this will be on ps3/360 but pretty exciting none the less. Far Cry 3 was a pretty fun game even with its terrible story so I'm pretty excited.

That cover art is a bit too reminiscent of the Far Cry 3 cover, makes me think they're just remaking the same game in a new setting. Not that that's really bad (considering I loved Far Cry 3 and), but still sort of a bummer.

Far Cry 2 was the best Far Cry.

Alright, now that we have that out of the way... yay for vaguely racist cover art, I guess? Not that the series ever handled that topic gracefully, but... oh well.

After seeing Ubisoft's full release chart for Watch Dogs, I can't wait to see the bakers dozen of versions for the releases of this.

If the game's plot had ended halfway into the game at the point where you killed Vaas and then left it at you just being a psychotic hallucinating crazy person, the story would have been perfectly serviceable.

Damn can we just stop supporting the old consoles already, so the new games aren't bottlenecked? Financially I get why they wait, but it really holds back the potential of current gen games

In general I think all of Ubisoft's games are bloated and tedius (and entirely too french). The guys at Ubisoft tend to cram as many features into their games as they possibly can, and it feels like this dilutes whatever parts of the game work best, to the point of turning me off the whole experience entirely.

I got Far Cry 3 from PS Plus for free, and I was pleasantly surprised. While I find the feature bloat to be present in that game as well, I just had a far too good time with it to bemoan that fact. I ended up buying Blood Dragon in a sale, and I did not regret my purchase. I can get behind the bite-sized format and the focus that comes with it, and the craziness it allows for.

My positive experience with Far Cry 3 put the franchise back on the map for me. If people say Far Cry 4 is a good time, I'll gladly believe 'em and buy into the game - maybe even on day 1. Godspeed Ubisoft, and fucking learn to trim the excess fat already!

Uh, looks fine to me... Far Cry was bad ass, I didn't feel cheated.
