Finally, New Ways to Play The Swapper

NO MORE EXCUSES, PEOPLE.

The Swapper is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Vita sometime in May, according to the PlayStation Blog. The Swapper is a kick ass puzzle game, and I'm not going to stop yelling about it.

So just play The Swapper, okay? Whether it's now or May, I don't care. Just do it.

Woooo... Wait that seems like it would be hard to control with 2 joysticks. I remember there being several sections where you needed really accurate spawning and swapping.

Very glad this is getting releases on the playstation network, great lil game, deserves all the attention and sales it can get.

Oh I'll still have plenty of excuses.

Seems a likely PS4 PS+ candidate!

No excuse here, just stuck.

I stopped playing around 3/4 of the way through and never found any incentive to go back to it. Maybe the ending is what makes it good? I enjoyed Rochard more than I did this, another game I stopped playing around 3/4 of the way through.

@megabite10164: Doesn't time slow down while you are aiming or something like that? They could probably make that more pronounced, or add an additional level of slowing on another button if the precision was an issue.

I will be sure to have that Swapper book report on your desk by Monday :)

The Swapper is good but not as good at scoops makes it out to be. Don't go in expecting a miracle, but play it because its rad.

@cale: The ending is super good, but I wouldn't say that's what makes it good. The puzzles do that. So if you're not digging the puzzles, I guess it just didn't click.

i'm getting this game

Do go in expecting a game narrative version of Moon and 2001, and doing it successfully delving into ideas of consciousness unbounded by the physical and the power of the unknown.

It's a very good game, I'm not too proud to admit I had to look up the solution of a particularly puzzling...puzzle.

Posted by Atwa

I wonder if they changed some of the puzzles, I could see the later ones being infuriating with a controller as they require such quick movements.

Just got it in the Humble Bundle and I'm excited to try it out once I have a PC worth a crap.

I played through all of the PC version using a 360 controller. Totally doable. Didn't have any moments of frustration from the controls.

I bought The Swapper but never played it. I have a desktop icon, even. Hope that helps!

One of the 10 games better than Brothers that got snubbed during GOTY

This game had one damn good composition of story and atmosphere. It's about 6-7 hours long for most people which is pretty good for a puzzle platformer, and is just too surreal in some parts to pass on playing.

Jeez Scoops, do you have to keep yelling?

In all honesty just got this puppy ion that most recent Humble Bundle. Looking forward to taking it for a Spin.

Posted by Pudge

I'll play it when it comes to the Atari Jaguar.

@karthasmi: Yeah, no shit. This is probably the single best bundle they've ever had. I think the memes in Guac are pretty gross, but it's still a good game. Every single game there is great. Too bad I already had all of them :V

Yeah, good point. I think I'm only maybe a half hour in and I can recall two times where I was having to jump off a cliff, spawn and swap, all within half a second.

Well now I wish I hadn't listened to the GOTY podcasts about it.

Bought it on PC but will buy again on PS4 and Vita. This game is a true gem people. BUY IT!

Hurray! One of the few PC games I really wanted to play that I was hoping would come to a console at some point. I'm definitely all over this in May. Thanks for supporting the porting of all these rad indie games, Sony.

Listen to the man! You guys need to play it!

I got around to finishing it during the christmas break. It was great.

This is such a great game. Always happy to see more people playing it, can't wait to see what comes from the studio down the road.

Funny, I've been playing through it yesterday and today.

Yeah, I'm curious to see what they do to compensate. This is one of the few times where I really think you need the precision of a mouse to play, and I avoid m/kb whenever I can

I literally started playing The Swapper this week, due to inclusion in the Humble Bundle. Loving it so far.

Its out on mac finally too!

Really the only thing I had an issue with in this game were the nonsensical achievements (de-chievements, really). Instead of bringing more of the back-story to light and enriching the overall experience, the devs decided to tuck away the extra terminals (messages from home) in the most impossible places imagined. So much so that in most cases, less than 5% of players read the extra messages -- this is evident from from the Global Achievements page for The Swapper on Steam. Which is a shame. The Swapper is a good example of how achievements should not be done.

Other than that, the game is an incredible achievement in itself. I don't believe there's a single 3d model in the game (mostly photographs with normal maps, placed in 3d space) and yet the shadows and lighting is phenomenal. As is the gameplay. Definitely worth checking out.

I've been playing the game with the Duelshock 4 the last couple of days and haven't had any problems with the precision at all. It should translate just fine for anyone who's used to using a controller.

A friend of mine bought it for me and himself back when it was first released. He said this could become one of those games everyone would be talking about like Portal. That didn't happen, but when I finally played it to completion a month ago I really enjoyed it. My friend I believe still hasn't finished it. I'm gonna have to nag him until that changes.

I played this all the way through because of Patrick's recommendations. I understood the end but I don't get why Patrick is so hyped for this.

Maybe it's because the endings fit so well with horror movie ending tropes and I don't enjoy horror myself.

Edited by Fleshfeast

It's not on Xbox 360 or Xbox One. I don't have a PS3, PS4, or a Vita.
