Five Minutes of Infamous

Want to see more of Sucker Punch's good-or-evil superhero game than you got at E3? G4 has you covered.

Sucker Punch's Infamous is one game I wish Sony hadn't played so close to the vest at E3. It and Killzone 2 seem like two of the most important games in the PS3's upcoming lineup but neither got a lot of play at Sony's press conference or were front and center (or even present at all, in the case of Infamous) in the company's E3 showcase. Then again, you can't blame Sony for pushing stuff like Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet more vigorously; they gotta sell that stuff this year, while Killzone and Infamous are '09 games. They can afford to wait a bit before cranking the hype machine into high gear.

Anyway, G4's got five minutes of Infamous (also a better HD version) to give you an idea what the game is about, although I wish they showed more than the one basic electric bolt ability in this clip. (Shackling a dude to the ground with electro-cuffs so you can keep on zapping him is pretty savage, though.) Seems like they're taking a page from the Assassin's Creed playbook with what looks like really easy urban climbing mechanics too.

Response to Infamous has been a little tepid in the press so far, but I'm optimistic for it. Really interested to see something grittier from the Sucker Punch guys after years of Sly Cooper, which was always technically impressive but didn't do much to get me excited.
