Goldeneye 007 Remake Revealed, Exclusive For Wii

The long rumored Goldeneye remake has finally been revealed. Today, at their E3 Press Conference, Nintendo revealed that Activision and Eurocom were developing a remake of the Nintendo 64 FPS classic Goldeneye. Developed exclusively for the Wii, Goldeneye looks to use the same plot and environments from the original game, updated with Wii motion controls, a more modern graphical palette and a completely different James Bond character. 
 
The new Goldeneye will use current franchise star Daniel Craig (instead of the actor in the original movie/game, Pierce Brosnan) but still take place in the same plot as the 13 year old Goldeneye. The remake will see the return of the original game's splitscreen multiplayer, as well as its variety of gameplay types (fingers crossed for Donkey Kong Mode!).

I thought it was a brand new Goldeneye game, not just a remake

If only it was on a console that had a real control scheme.  Oh well. 
 
Besides why make a game based on Goldeneye without the actual guy who was in Goldeneye? Is it some sort of copyright reason?

If the Nintendo press conference told us one thing. It's that it is 1990 and here is your bottle of shasta to play Goldeneye all night for.

I really wanted an HD remake for download on XBLA or PSN like what Rare did for Perfect Dark on XBLA. I'm guessing Nintendo owns the Goldeneye franchise from N64, so naturally their the only ones that could remake. Disappointed.

When did they say this is a remake and not a new game?

It doesn't look that good, plus with WFC, people will probably hack the online like The Conduit and CoD 4 Wii.

Not impressed. I'm not a fan of the new "takedown" things. This looks a lot like Call of Duty: In the Facility. The graphics look shockingly similar for something that is supposed to be a remake rather than port. And last, but not least, Daniel Craig? Common.

This looks bad.  FPS's don't play or look good on the wii.  They should stick to more stylized games like Epic Mickey, or Donkey Kong (which I think looks awesome)

Maybe the first good shooter for Wii? Or maybe not.

Hhhmmm played the first one once upon a time...kinda doubt this thing controlling all that well though...but could be good.

As I said before, it's Goldeneye now and not then, I don't feel this will be all that good.
Maybe as a nostalgia piece, but that's it.

Oh and the Wii doesn't have the controls for a decent FPS. Should have been on XBLA.

Goldeneye wasn't all that good back then.  Sure it was a good fun time and let you do FPS on a console, but I was playing Q2 back then and the difference was night and day.  It's nice to see the past, but I don't hold this game in as high regard as their "focus testers."  :\

If it can be played with a classic controller or even the gamecube pad, I think it'll satisfy with some fun retro FPSing

Part of the reason the original GoldenEye was so awesome was Rare. Rare will have nothing to do with this game, so I am skeptical.

This kinda dissapoint me. I loved the old goldeneye, but this just didn't capture me.

Was not a fan of the original so why would I want to play more of something I didn't like in the first place?  Nintendo showed a lot of games, which is good, but most of them I just don't care about.  So far, for me anyway, Microsoft is still in the lead, but just barely.  Let's see what Sony has to offer us.

I wouldn't buy it solely because of Daniel Craig. I didn't think he was a right fit for Bond, and Casino Royale was one of my least favorite Bond movies. Yes, I dislike Daniel Craig that much.

Goldeneye was a great game in the N64 days, I expect the fond memories won't stack up to the reality of playing it again nowadays.

Remember Rogue Agent?  Yeah.... not too confident in this.

This is a game for the fanboys and that's okay, but I don't think bringing traditional FPS over to the Wii is a smart or necessary idea.  I believe and have seen 'core game experiences on the Wii that are not the same thing that Sony and Microsoft do better on their platforms.  Nintendo and its 3rd parties should concentrate on those types of games and leave the FPS games to the HD consoles. 

At least I won't have to use a crappy dual analog pad for controls, that shit sucks for FPSs. If it's not on the PC, I'll take the Wii controls anyday.
