Goldeneye 007 Remake Revealed, Exclusive For Wii

Still not feeling this. It's good that their including online, but I don't know if the nostalgia will be enough to elevate this one. Also, with all the trouble at MGM right now, wouldn't it be funny if by the time they get the game out, they have a whole new Bond actor?

Replacing Pierce Brosnan really rubs me the wrong way, like rewriting history.

 I was actually remaking Goldeneye in Cryengine 2, I had no idea Nintendo was also doing a remake, I might have to put my project to the curb cause this looks pretty awesome, graphically its nowhere near Cryengine 2 but I really want to see how they make use of and push the hardware of the Wii.

I'm tired of sites calling this a "remake", and invoking an emotional response by relating it to the original N64 game be referencing the "return of splitscreen" or the "same plot" when this game seems to have no similarities stylistically with the N64 game except some similar locales. Activision's marketing of this game is simply exploitative, using gamers' nastalgic memories as a sales tactic, and I was hoping Giantbomb wouldn't fall into their trap, but alas, here we are, with yet another preview pretending this is the second coming. We've seen NO reason to expect more from this game than Activision's past Wii Bond game (Quantum of Solace), and we should not get our hopes up.

Looks very cool. The Wii graphics also make it easy for my nostalgia to thrive ;)

Not sure what to think about this; I'm hoping it'll be good but you never know. Then again, I don't have a Wii.

Even if this turns out to be a pile of broken rehash with a few extra moves and guns, you know I have to buy out of sheer principle. It freakin' says Goldeneye! They know I've been waiting for this........and yet they put it on the Wii....with Daniel Craig.....and Rare isn't involved........

I think you will find that the reason this is on nintendo is the same reason we saw Perfect Dark on XBLA and not Goldeneye. The original Goldeneye game IP is owned by nintendo. Still Daniel Craig in Goldeneye :S

Even if you wanted to, I can think of many comparisons of games made pre 08 which look better then post 08.

Better graphics make a game more playable, makes perfect sense. Time to shit-can every game made prior to 2008.

Oh come now, ten year olds online isn't the games fault and many/all games modern or not have objectives and a point to them otherwise it's an application not a game. Graphics do count to a games playability as well, a game that looks good is simply more succesful, CS1.6 vs CS:S, CoD1 vs CoD:4. People like pretty things, even though the mechanics of CS1.6 are better therefore the game plays better, many more people Source because it looks nice.

I really don't think this will be as fun as the n64 back in the day.  
Also did none of the dudes in the video ever have a pc. That's were FPS started not N64.

I would've been more excited for a downloadable game on XBLA like Perfect Dark. Right now, this is total meh. All I can think is Nintendo wanting to capitalize on the nostalgia many gamers have of the original.

I just hope that I get you shoot scientists again...

I never thought I'd say this, but thank god the Wii's graphics are so awful. Funnily enough, it makes Goldeneye look way better from a nostalgic point of view.

When people asked for the next Goldeneye, did they really mean exactly Goldeneye again?

I don't know, there could be some nostalgic fun to be had. The first part of that trailer was pretty horrific, though.

IDK if anyone has heard of this, but there's a free Mod for the source engine in Beta called Goldeneye:Source, currently it only has multiplayer, but it's still freaking sweet. You can find it on Moddb

This doesn't sound like a great idea. I can only hope that they make the "Protect Natalya" part as big of a pain in the ass as it was on the N64. If they can nail that, the rest of the this game can slide.
