Gran Turismo 5 Hitting November 24

Sony confirms another November release date for Polyphony Digital's racer.

Pretty soon we'll to stop talking about how much we'd like to have Gran Turismo 5 in our hands and start talking about what it's like to actually have Gran Turismo 5 in our hands. Sony has confirmed that Polyphony Digital's long-awaited racing simulation game will hit store shelves this November 24. That's pretty soon!

This is the second, and hopefully last, November release date for Gran Turismo 5. Sony previously confirmed that the title was to hit on November 2. Shortly after, the publisher announced a delay without providing an official explanation. Internet speculation varies on why the game was pushed back. Some people are saying Polyphony wanted to put just a bit more work into the game, while others swear the latest (and last) delay was a result of SCEA's desire to have the game run on a new version of the PS3 SDK that pirates and hackers won't be able to crack open for some time. This, unfortunately, supposedly required Polyphony to pull the game from production and add in some code.

In a statement about this latest release date, Polyphony's Kazunori Yamauchi had some fun. "Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program!" He added later, "I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed." Oh, if only he knew what Ryan lost out on because of this!
