All told, a pretty awesome list with a slightly different focus than Rock Band 2. The only thing that's a little weird is the number of songs that are featured in both games--by my count there are no less than 12 songs that you'll find on the disc in both games, and that's without considering the DLC. So what do you think, are there enough differences to justify buying both, or are you unwilling to pay for the same songs twice? If nothing else, I think we can all agree that these are ridiculous problems to have.

UPDATE: Make that 13 tracks that are on the disc in both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour. Here's an explicit list of the crossover tracks.

·        The Allman Brothers Band - “Ramblin' Man”
·        Blondie - “One Way or Another”
·        Bon Jovi - “Livin’ On A Prayer”
·        Dinosaur Jr. - “Feel The Pain”

Sweet, there are quite a few surprises on that list (Wings, anyone?). Despite some also being in RB, I'm sure I'll still buy both games. Because that's how I roll - with lots and lots of plastic instruments.

Posted by Callumrides

its a gd list but would of like 2 see alot more variation from rock - death metal but hey mayb next time

Posted by deaux

Looks like there's some decent acoustic stuff.

Posted by Kohe321

Thats a really nice list... Now I need to figure out whether to get Guitar Hero 2 or this.

Posted by drac96

This is overall a lot better than I was expecting. I am looking forward to this.

Posted by VilhelmNielsen

L'via L'Viaquez is a great choice, that should be fun to play.

Posted by DJ_Lae

Not a bad selection. I'll probably rent it to see how the game turns out, although I'll be too busy playing Rock Band 2 to bother buying this one.

Posted by Heartagram

I think Rock band 2's list is much better but i love to see Tool and Jimi on here and more muse never hurts anyone

Posted by NarcolepticBat

how are we gonna do the beat boxing in freak on a leash??? THATS AWESOME

Posted by xplodedd

its a good list.

Posted by TadThuggish

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about this.  Can't decide whether I like this or RB2's set list more.  Oh well.
Anyway, props to Activision for making Rock Band stuff compatible.  Without that, there's no way I'd be getting World Tour.  Now I consider it a possibility.

Posted by DualReaver

There is a few songs I really like on Guitar Hero's setlist, but I think Rock Band 2 is stronger overall even without mentioning its backwards compatibility and DLC.

Posted by demonbear

Mostly no metal at all. I'll pass.

TOOL!

Posted by fleethefactory

That Beat It solo is gonna be off the chain.

Posted by PlatypusPlatoon

My heart has been forever captured by Rock Band, but there's no denying that Guitar Hero keeps coming out with kick-ass setlists year after year.  Two thumbs way up.

Posted by Blitzer

Nice to see some Tool in there. But no Rage?

Posted by Shasam

I think there's enough difference to buy both, but I definitely prefer Rock Bands list. It's just got something about it that's fresh...plus, RB DLC FTW! (TOO MANY LETTERS).

Posted by WickedCobra03

Tool and Nirvana.  I am personally going to get one set and then just go ahead and buy the stand alone game for whichever depending on whats better.

Posted by sociald1077

I'll get both. I view these games like I do buying CDs and other forms of music, that being that sometimes you buy two different compilations that sometimes have 1 or 2 tracks that overlap, but for the most part they are different. Also with the different visual styles and compatibility between the instruments (thank God this finally happened), I think both will be great ways to kill time.

I will not be getting the bundles for both games though. I'm keeping all my RB1 hardware, and will be getting a GH:WT guitar (because I only have 1 right now) to be my 2nd guitar/bass for 4 player mode.

I also don't really see why people wouldn't get both. Is it brand loyalty? You buy CDs from various bands/genres, why not music games of the same flavor?

Posted by SilentBob251

I want this game just for NOFX and Sublime. I've been eagerly  waiting for one of these games to include these bands.

Posted by Drakes_Fortune

I plan on getting this with the instruments and then buy the rock band 2 disc. Two great games thanks to Sony and getting the compatibility figured out

Posted by RyeBread

Cool. There are at least a dozen Rock Band songs on here. But who would have saw Micheal Jackson coming?

Posted by j_meyer_13

wow, i might actually have to get GH:WT...disc only, mind you, but there's some damn good songs on here.  Is anyone else scared as hell of Hot For Teacher?  That E3 clip looked hard as hell, and I can't even finger-tap on guitar :(

Posted by LordAndrew

I'm disappointed with the lack of Strong Bad.

Posted by carpei

Relatively unspectacular list, but the fact that Dinosaur Jr. is included will make me buy it.

Posted by killawogg

i have a sudden urge to collect every plastic guitar that comes out :(

i'm buying it ..... tool sold me on it lol
Posted by PLWolf

Nice list, but needs more Motley Crue. hehe

Posted by Stokes

Screw it, I'm just getting Rock Band 2.  The main reason is because Harmonix knows how to make you feel like you actually playing the song, rather than a string of random notes.

Posted by DaveKingston

Wow... This list seems more desperate than inspired.

Posted by JimiB

Metallica - “Trapped Under Ice”

Metallica themselves have said this is one of their worst songs, other than that there's some great choices there.

Posted by Afroman269

Wow I was expecting a better list after they announced all of the new artists that they got. I'm sticking with RB 2 because DLC is the way to go and Harmonix has that nailed.

Posted by waterglass

wait where the hell did low go?

Posted by HTTenrai

Hopefully, they're more compatible this time around, as I'd like to have less instruments to buy, and just get both games.

Posted by DaemonBlack
Posted by hungrynun

Pretty good list.

It bums me out that Santeria is on the opposite plastic instrument game that I own.

Posted by Subway

Not nearly as good as Rock Band, but Micheal Jackson just about makes it compete.

Posted by jakob187

This is gonna be my FIRST purchase in the music game section...just because of the 3-pack of Tool songs on the disc.  That's way too awesome.  There are definitely some nice surprises on here.  I'm totally gonna be rockin' "Eye of the Tiger" and "Livin' on a Prayer" a ton!!!  Those are just TOO fun.  Journey's "Wheel in the Sky" would've made this ultimate.  I'm thoroughly pissed, however, that GH CONTINUES to neglect Pantera after featuring them on the first game!!!  Total bullshit.

In the end, though, I'm going to be buying all three games.  Since all the hardware is backward-compatible with all the game discs, then there's no reason why we shouldn't just get all three.  Hell, Rock Revolution has got one hell of a list on their hands:  Metallica's "Am I Evil", Megadeth's "Holy Wars", and Pantera's "Walk".
Posted by theglobe88

This setlist sucks for the most part, but DAMN, THREE TOOL SONGS?!?1

Now I have to get damn Guitar Hero 3.
Posted by Everyones_A_Critic

Damn, I feel I'm the only one dissapointed...

Posted by Kraznor

There are a handful of intriguing songs on there but whatever, my money is going to Harmonix. Those guys just seem to have their heads in the right place whereas Activision's Guitar Hero seems like some kind of lame sell-out now.

Posted by FaintDeftone

I like RB2's setlist more, but the inclusion of Obstacle 1, Hey Man Nice Shot, and the Tool tracks will probably force me to buy this anyways. Just as long as I can use my RB drums.

I just wish that Hot for Teacher was replaced with Panama.

Posted by nasie

lol, Kent. some love for the swedes :D yay!

Posted by LeBart

AC/DC ? Led Zep ? :(

Posted by RHCPfan24

That is a very good list, but I still like RB2's better.  Band on the Run is cool though.

Posted by Godzilla_Sushi

I don't like it as much as Rock Band 2.....but 311! YAY!

Posted by ThomasP

Damn. NOFX, Jimi, The Doors, Sex Pistols, Foo Fighters. :)
